27 cents per mile to start, after 6 months you get a 4 cent raise, and then 2 cents after 1 year. You're started out on per diem pay, which is 2 CPM less than the standard pay rate. If you opt out of per diem you add 2 CPM to the amounts I stated previously. You can opt out of per diem after 90 days, but look at your own tax situation to figure out if you're better on or off per diem.

If you want to be home weekly, go with regional. If you want to spend 12+ days out at a time, definitely go OTR/system. Short haul pay is way better on OTR/system, plus ever since I switched back I've been getting way more 1000 mile loads. When I was regional it was 200 miles, 300 miles, 400 miles, live loads, live unloads, just a bunch of crap.

Quick question. Are there any other youngins on this forum? I'm assuming I'm the youngest one here. I was the youngest one in both my cdl school and orientation. I'm 21, got my cdl right after my birthday.

I haven't found one thing yet that my recruiter lied to me about. He was very straight forward.

Try it out, you can always switch back if you don't like it. Schneider is pretty flexible, and really, there isn't TOO much difference between regional and system. Regional pretty much is for people that want more home time or for people that only want to operate in or avoid certain geographic areas. The drawback from regional is that the shorthaul rates that they pay are substatially less (for runs 101-200 miles, regional pays a 10cpm premium, system pays 15cpm premium, for runs 51-100 miles, regional pays a 10cpm premium, system pays 50cpm premium. Not sure about 26-50 for regional, I know that system pays $1pm premium). The only benefit that regional gets over system is for runs that are 201-300 miles, regional gets an additional 2cpm, while system gets no additional premium pay.

As you can see, if you get a 100 mile run, a regional driver is getting $40 less than a system driver. Then again, short hauls like that are not common, and if you think about it, I'm sure the trip planners are going to be crunching numbers and they'll be looking to give that load to a regional driver.

Well, I have a Sears load. I'm at my first stop near south san Francisco. My next stop is in Santa Rosa, CA. Navigo wants me to take 101 all the way up there. Right through the heart of San Francisco with a couple hundred signals and then over the golden gate bridge......

    #### that, I'm taking 101 up to I-80 across the toll bridge, bypassing that mess, hop onto I-580 and cross back over to 101. A little more miles, but most likely faster and less stressful.

    I HATE SAN FRANCISCO!!!!!!!
