Thanks Opus, doing OTR right now with tanker or regional next. I'm just looking to get on the road and learn the ropes and pay my dues.

Why in the heck does Schneider keep some of these trucks so long? It would seem that it is not cost effective to keep them this long. Don't get me wrong. I don't expect a new truck right off the bat but something with 750000 miles? I talked to a guy at the kc drop lot the other day who said he has been with Schneider 8 years and has never seen a new truck. WTF. Maybe there is more to his story than he is telling. Who knows. Most companies get rid of them at 500000.

I'm totally guessing, but perhaps it has something to do with the fact that Schneider is privately owned?

They aren't worried about share holders driving around and seeing us in old trucks and thus, hesistate to invest. Public companies tend to be more concerned about image than private companies.

Are our trucks leased? or purchased? ...that could have influence on the decisions to keep the trucks longer.

Perhaps it IS more cost effective to keep the trucks as long as possible, particularly if one employs lots of good mechanics and cheap parts.

    ......food for thought.

    Jackofalltrades1977 Thanks this.

You aint kidding about the used up trucks.I had my first two with over 700,000 miles, and nasty unmentionables left in the truck.Bottles of mystery liquids, and mattresses loaded down with brown sprinkles :pottytrain3:

Atlanta OC was total chaos Holy crap!!! I was bob tail and almost didn't find a spot.

Talking to an earlier post regarding age of trucks and never getting a new one.

There is a lay out of the pecking order for trucks in the driver manual. It explains who and how.

I'm at THE very bottom of the list and will never see a new truck, ever again.

I'm sure there are exceptions after you've been here 100 years.

I Love how Schneider says South east regional. Here I am sitting in New York. They must have a bigger SE than I remember.
