Thankfully I have no desire/need for a smart phone or all of the gadgets and such. My laptop is good enough. Why would I really need it anyway? To text message while I'm driving like every single 4 wheeler seems to be doing? Man I hate those people LOL

Might as well get ready for one. In the near future, that's all there will be. So says the big phone companies.

Actually, there are a lot of things mine replaces.

I left my laptop off the truck when I bought a GPS. Now, I don't buy truck stop guides. The apps are quicker, easier, and better. IMO

Now it would suck if I tried watching movies on it. But I don't do that. I don't even have a TV on the truck.

I rarely text. But Im forced to by the wife and kids. At least they'll look at the text. Where they may never check voice mail.

Smart phones aren't bad. Just another tool for me.

This CAN NOT be a good sign.

I'm sitting at the 4th customer this week. Ticking into my 5th hour of load/unload time.

My detention pay gonna be as much as my mileage this keeps up.

any of you guys still up? i need help... pumpkin in training and my wife is starting to breakdown [bad]. is there an honorable way [without completely blowing any and all chance of ever coming back] to bow out of my first week of training? i'm trying to make a living for my family and thought we had decided it would be ok, but i don't think she's gonna make it.

i was told yesterday the training is actually designed for this type of stuff, cause it comes up. i just dont want to burn this bridge and i will continue my training if thats my option... i'll do what i can when i get home in 2 weeks, but i spent 5k [total so far] on this career and don't want to toss it away. i knew to be prepared for it cause you all talk about here and in other forums, but i did not expect it to happen so quick.

harsh or nice, i'll take any advice.

I will give you my advise, take it for what it is worth.

If you are only 2 weeks into training and your wife is already freaking out, find another career, I hate to say it.

Time away is hard on a spouse, and if she can't handle it, one of two things is gonna happen, you are gonna keep driving and she is gonna leave you, or you are gonna quit driving to stay at home and help.

It is harsh, but some families can not handle being apart, your wife has to take on a whole another list of responsibilities with you gone, and that is a hard adjustment. If two weeks is two much, what is she gonna do if you are gone for a month???

    just my 2 cents.

i completely agree with you. honesty is not harsh to me. i don't want to destroy my driving record [dac?] in the process, or burn Schneider... not their fault.

i thought i had prepared her and was confident she would make it or i would not have wasted the companies time and money. while i know it is extreemly difficult to find a local job, i don't want to make it harder by pissing on Schneider.

i know what i need to do for my wife, but what do i do with some form of grace for schneider? is there a special way or person... or do i just blurt it out to a tan shirt?

further, i'm 3 ... going on 4 days into training... been gone a whopping 4 1/2 days, hence why i'm hitting the brakes hard on the simulator.

EDIT: sorry for posting this in here, but you guy's were my best guess for a late night answer to a company specific question. every company has their own way, figured you could give me the best answer for schneider.

wait, are you still in orientation and not out with trainer yet???

Only 4 days in and your wife can't handle it? Again, take my advise, but my experience, if you go to the trainer and explain the situation that your wife is having a hard time and you need to go home and take care of some things, and be honest, my experience is they will be understanding and let you come back later.

I would think long and hard about coming back tho.
