KE , what we've got here is people who arent behind a wheel right now.I'd much rather be in your position right now.
As it is , I'm waiting on a TE phone call.

With Xmas right around the corner and being told that most drivers who want to be will be home for Xmas. I gotta figure guys are running hard to get the freight moved before then?
In the meantime, training pay is in effect. Not what I'm used to by any means but enough to keep my head above water. Lean or not , rather not get behind. Been there done that, hate the shirt.
What I DO hope for is the allowance to do this job. I want as many reps in couple/uncouple, docking, QC, paperwork, etc. in the time I'm with TE. I learn best by doing. -
When you go with a trainer schneider does not allow the trainer to run the truck as a team truck. You will be up as will the trainer, now how the trainer has you drive and what not will be his decision and it will be based off your abilities. If you drive good you will probably do all or most of the driving. While on the truck he should show you the couple and uncouple and then watch and instruct youevry time you do it. Remember to always LOOK and make sure the jaws lock around the king pin and that you have never hi hooked. Schneider will fire someone on the spot for two things A DROPPED TRAILER and A U TURN

I have the handouts for pretrip, post/enroute, couple/uncouple, and the one with brake check and expect to be able to use them. They were clear on that.
I want to do the best job I can on any given day with the least amount of mistakes that is reasonable. In the process , I understand there is a learning curve and my TE has his job to do as a priority which is deliver/pick up his load. -
You will learn the pre trips for most drivers vary once actually out there rolling for example say i stop for the night i always do a post trip which includes tires ,oil and coolant as well as lights and load security. in the am if i am not fueling where i am at, i will always do a walk around checking tires, security, coupling to make sure someone hasn't pulled the fifth wheel handle, air hoses, check and make sure nothing was pushed under the trailer and check for pools of oil or other fluid under truck. Now when i stop and fuel i then check under hood and all to make sure it's all good. I usually try and stop at night where i plan on fueling the next day whenever possible. i also check tires at fuel stop and lights that way if they need fixed i'm there and can do it. now it doesnt always work out that way so i improvise.LOL
