Really? That's good news.
As for where I live, I'm in Western Wisconsin and picking up my load in Eau Claire, WI. Seems that the one tire with a screw is holding air, the other is a bit low though. I'll fill it back up and just cross my fingers I can get to Dallas before there's any problems, or that my DBL can get me into some sort of tire place along the way.
BTW, after fighting with those stupid drive tire cover zippers, my step dad had the brilliant idea of shooting WD-40 on them. I can now win the zipper fights. -
You should have a guide to tire locations....don't try to make it all the way to Dallas if you're losing air. Bad idea, especially with DOT's annual inspection-frenzy this week.
Secondly, WD-40 (along with any other liquid lubricant) will attract dirt. When I was a Pumpkin, I used powdered graphite or even a simple lead pencil on those covers. Also, for those that never bothered to unzip them and actually do a pretrip, at least unzip them and clean the inside of the cover so you can do a visual. You'll be one of the few and it will show favorably on you.Female Driver Thanks this. -
no approval needed for tire issues. Just find a wingfoot. Have them look at it. of course tell dbl what you are doing to keep them in the loop.Female Driver Thanks this.

Well, seeing as you're picking up in Eau Claire, I assume you probably will head west on I-94 over to St Paul and hop on I-35e from there. There's a wingfoot in Eagan, MN, exit 94 on I-35e (just south of 94). Looks like it's a stand alone and not at a truckstop. It would be right on the way. Geo ID for the location 5(zero)47A(zero)JY6.
Either that or just stop at the pilot in Des Moines. It won't take any longer to change it out there than it would at Dallas (actually, last time I was at Dallas there was a line of like 9 trucks waiting for express service)
PS, you should pick up a tire bank map the next time you're at an OC (Dallas LOL).Female Driver Thanks this. -
Powdered graphite, huh? I'll have to get some of that. I'll definitely call my DBL in the morning and get to a Wingfoot. Tire problems scare me, and I rather not have to stop every-so-often through the day and check the pressure, especially when I have to fight with that dang zipper.
-
I'll get the tire bank map, and write down that geocode. Thanks! Yeah, Eagan seems like a good idea. Thanks everybody for the help!

I also should have added that, though it is a PITA, unzippin' those frustrating things a few times a week will help keep them freed up. I made a habit of unzipping them at a shipper or receiver while being loaded or unloaded. Also had a NY cop tell me that he actively looks for these covers that look as though they've never been opened and that you can't see through. Big red flag that the driver isn't doing PTIs.Female Driver Thanks this.

theres a new drivers resource guide SNI put out for us. Fuel, tire banks, drop lots etc. broken down by state. Gives geo-ids , cust locations. Get one as soon as you can in addition to the actual tirebank map.
-
I tried getting one of those. They said that they weren't for drivers, only for operations so they wouldn't allow me to take one LOL. Maybe that's changed
