So I got up this morning and my HOS on my Qualcomm was "updating". It said "these are not your current hours" or something. So after checking, rechecking and rechecking the math again in my head, I was sure I had finished my 10, and went on the road. Since then, at 4am this morning, the thing has been blinking red at me, and telling me I had a violation. All's good though, right? Just my Quallthingy being stupid, right?

Another thing - half the trailers I pick up seem to cause my ABS light on my dash to go off when I use the brakes (or the engine brake). I have just been assuming that means that the ABS on the trailer isn't working, and making a mental note to use stab braking if the event arises. I tried to see if I could TIV report the ABS issue, but didn't see anything on there that would say "ABS not working". Is this normal? Should I be doing something different?
Another, another thing - in orientation I was told to upshift at 1600, but the Columbia sheet I found in the permit folder for Columbias said to upshift at 1500? Thoughts? Since seeing the 1500 sheet, I've been upshifting at 1500, which sounds so much better for my rig. Thoughts on that? -
As for shifting - they tell you 1300 low/1600 high because it will work for almost every deiver in any truck. The reality is you can shift at anu rpm as long as you can get it into gear. I progressively shift which means I upshift at the lowest rpm to get the next gear. So 2the to 3the I'll shift at 1100anu while 9 to 10the is a little over 1525. SNI really doesn't care when you shoft as long as you're not tearing up the trucj or getting 2to mpg.
Excuse the typos, my cpu is down amd I'm tuping on my phones little keuboard with my fat thumbs.Female Driver Thanks this. -
So I need to call regulatory? Can't I just say "eff it" and go on with my life? -
You can just ignore it but eventually you'll have to explain it to someone. To avoid calling regulatory you could make out a paper log and scan it in. That will replace your elog for today. You still need to msg your dbl on Monday though; they might miss it but as you're still with the 60 day dbl you'll probably be asked to call in and chat. Or worse get scheduled for log remediation - ie spending a day at an OC being retaught elogs and hos.
To make life easier on myself I don't log any sleeper berth time. As son as I park the truck I mark my post trip and go off duty. I stay off duty until I go drivin gthe next day, then at my first stop I go back and edit in my pti so as to save as muchof my 14 as possible. I should mention that before I pull out I make sure the duration on the status page says at least 10:15.Female Driver Thanks this. -
I had pay issues with Swift. I was getting three cents less per mile once I started with them then they told me I would get while being recruited and while in orientation. I tried for three months to get this corrected which they kept saying they would do but never did. There was also a few other issues but the pay issue was the main reason I left.
