Hopefully they don't find any problems with the truck other than what I gave them.
Had a couple of my power points in the back go dead today for some reason. The airline/electrical cord clamp on the back of the cab is loose, and there's a nut missing from my QC mount which makes it squeak and rattle while moving.
Other than those minor things I love it. It's like driving a Cadillac. It's almost silent inside while rolling and smooth. I'm loving the Steering wheel controls for the cruise and jakes.
Not sure what to do with the cabinets yet. The solid doors are so much better than the nets in my Century. Problem is they are just a 4ft tall box with no shelves. Shop said that they don't carry shelves and I'd have to figure something out on my own. Not sure if it's just the Gary shop or if the company just doesn't supply shelves. Going to stop by WalMart some time this week and see if I can find some shelves with drawers. Just have everything piled in for now.
I also miss the inverter. My old truck had a 400 watt inverter installed because one of it's previous drivers had a CPAP machine. My 300watt can only provide enough power if I leave the truck idle otherwise it just cycles on and off constantly with just my laptop plugged in.
The OnGuard is a little annoying while driving down I94 through Chicago during rush hour. Having it automatically slow the truck to match the speed of the car in front of me was kind of nice. Made it so I could focus more on looking for an opening in traffic to go around. I did have it trip a couple times when it crossed a shadow. It kicked of my cruise, grabbed the brakes, and hit the jake when the shadow from the "Welcome to Indiana" sign over 80 hit it. I was able to hit the gas quick enough though that I only lost a couple MPH. Then a few more times where it would beep for a second and turn the screen yellow until the shadow was passed. Not quite sure how a shadow is tripping a Radar sensor.
Over the past few months I've noticed that the Paid Miles and Actual Miles are getting closer to being the same. This only applies if you follow the provided routing. If you start doing your own thing for routing then you can't complain much if you drive more than you get paid.
Most of the time I'll follow the company route unless I know of a different way that is faster. I294 around Chicago from Wisconsin to Indiana is 8 miles longer than taking US41/I94 through Chicago. But during rush hour it can be 2-4 hours faster usually. The QC GPS will constantly try to put you back on I94 if you click the Reroute button.

Good Luck Ajv1987 when you test out, im testing out July 6th.
-
The steering wheel controls are awesome. They make me feel lazy though, not having to lean forward to flip switches and all, lol
-
Lol I know that one!!! I drive these old ##### company trucks here and I was lost in switches lol. I missed the wheel buttons real fast lol

Took it home on Tuesday while waiting on a 16 hour Live Load
. Scrubbed a bunch of the bugs and crap off the front end. Going to run it through the Gary truck wash tomorrow before leaving.
Managed to get assigned to a new trailer today. Got a decent looking picture before dropping it in Gary.
It's weird not seeing orange every day.
Anybody have any clue on a good place to mount my Satellite radio antenna? I'm thinking of getting a piece of Electrical Conduit and putting a few bends in it and then some how attaching it to the QC antenna mount out back. Not sure if there are better options though. The lack of steel bars to mount stuff is one of the few down sides to this truck. I'm kinda picky about appearance as well. Thinking of then routing the cable down through the Wing supports, under the cab, and then up through the passenger door.
I've seen a couple guys who had them attached to the CB antennas with Duct tape/zipties. Also saw one who attached it to his passenger side mirror with a #### load of Tape. -
Go to the truckstop and buy an aftermarket antenna that has a mount complete with screws and bolts. Make sure it says Satellite radio compatible. Then just be careful and mount the antenna onto the stud of your driver's side black antenna that's already pre-installed. Get some zip ties and route your extra wire out of your view and hook the connection to the back of the XM unit. Make sure the mounted Satellite antenna is pointed toward the sky. Buy the one the has a "M" on it.

I'm headed to Charlotte, NC for July 2nd orientation. I already have 6 months experience, so thankfully I don't have to go out with a trainer
. Just four days of paperwork and other things and I'm rolling.

What are the company trucks governed to?
-
Governed speeds vary truck to truck. They say 65 but some I've been in can get 68-69, while others you're lucky to get up to 65 on flat ground...Good luck driver!
