I refuse to drive anything with an automatic transmission, as stated above, it takes the fun out of it.

I agree, technology is awesome.... it just doesnt need to be applied to some things...

Autos are a love hate kinda thing. You either love it or you hate it. I find autos boring. I like to shift, or "work" as you put it. Keeps my mind working, keeps me awake and alert.

So im confused as heck right now. Operations asked me to email a head shot wearing a SNI shirt and has been asking me questions about the public's image of trucking and how to change it. :biggrin_25511:

Also, alot of these new drivers are put in auto shifters. After a year they want to drive for some other company. They don't know how to shift. I just got a job local. The first thing they asked me is if I was driving an automatic. I was expected to be able to operate this 15 speed Peterbuilt. I think they like me. Pretty trucks too. I think I found a home. I also drive tanker for them. I drove for Schneider 10 years ago. Cabover, and conventional. That's probably where I learned most of my shifting. So, if you're just starting out, you might want to see if you can get a standard. It will help you in the future.

I have only been here since feb. pretty sure I'm not a million miler yet lol. They won't tell me what's going on. Just keep saying I will find out soon enough. Don't know if I should be scared.

They may be self insured for their own property (aka, collision), but they are not self insured when it comes to the liability side of things. They're insured through Liberty Mutual. They may also self insure for cargo, but not sure. They definitely self insure for work comp.
