That's absolutely the most fantastic thing I've heard in a while, and that's saying something since I'm a bit of a political junky.

And zomg, are all the male truckers having their periods tonight? Good lawd, my CB was just as obnoxious as a girl's Jr. High locker room. Oh, and you know what happens when a UPS driver takes out a good length of guard rail with his second trailer? Packages all over the interstate that's what.

What else can I ramble on about? Oh, I learned an important lesson about breaking seals today. That's about just as far as I want to ramble on about that, lol.

I wouldn't even want to think of pulling on a metal seal without gloves on. I bet those things could slice to the bone if you pulled hard without gloves.

I actually had a customer accuse me of not sealing the trailer because I just walked back and broke a metal seal with nothing but my hand and a set of gloves. She said she had never seen a driver do that and there's no way I was able to break the seal without a cutter because she hadn't seen it done before. Tried to refuse the load on me because of it. It's not like the load was food or anything, it was those bulk chemical containers that are plastic wrapped in a steel wire cage. They were empty.

I use either the long shackle of my padlock or a screwdriver to just pull on it to break those metal seals.

    Aren't we special......

Reading the crossroads info on the new ambient temp sensor. They're comparing the reasoning for the change to CR England and Werner. And the fuel savings they gained.

But never once mentioned these companies utilize APU's.

I'm embarrassed by the fact they failed to include the recent interview in an industry mag with a small company that gave the results of their recent addition of APU's.
Idle times were below 2% for the entire first year, with ZERO idle restrictions on the truck.

When I was with Butler, we had APUs and no idle restrictions. Butler is very profitable because of it.

That's a good tip, but it was an issue of me breaking the seal and backing into a dock before Kmart saw the the seal (which wasn't an issue with the other Kmart I delivered, so I had just ASSumed it was okay here)

It seems like most the time that there is arguing on the CB, I keep mine turned low for that reason. Should have a designated channel for the ones who want to fight, b**** and moan.

And yeah, these places usually don't make any sense. One location doesn't give a darn about seeing the seal, and at another place they'll be pricks. So I usually just play dumb and wait till they tell me what I have to do.

I never break a seal until I've checked in with a "new" customer.

As you gain experience, you'll learn which customers are okay with it, and which aren't. And many times, the load info will contain a note on this. Especially if the customer is anal about checking the seals.

Also, never assume a load is NOT related to food preparation.
