Vacation pay is figured by taking your anualized pay from the previous year and dividing by 54. So if you earned exactly $45,000 between Jan 1 and Dec 31 2011 your vacation pay would be $834.33. For ease of example lets say you come in on a Saturday and take 7 days off, using 5 of your 'vacation days'. The check for that period would be $834.33, minus deductions. You take a week off, you get a week's pay. If you take a day off then you'd be paid $166.85 for that day. I believe the math on this does work out to the driver's advantage.

In the office world a 'vacation week' is 5 days off, figuring that you work 5 days and have the weekend off. The way our work schedules fall it looks and feels like we're getting screwed but we're really not. I'll be on the road about 290 days this year - about 10-15 days more than my friends who work in offices work. We work differently than other industries, not harder. There are benefits to every type of employment and things that just suck about a job/company.

No they will get paid on the average "gross", per diem is not considered pay, it's an expense reimbursement. What are the company advantages to per diem?

Vacation pay half of what it would be
2 cents per mile less paid to driver
401K match amount cut in half (if you even stay here for 5 years to become vested that is)

    Grandiego Thanks this.

Great, I'm told to bobtail into a place that doesn't allow bobtails. Been on hold for an hour now. I guess my 34 hour restart is going to become a 44 hour restart.

Great, so I call Green Bay because I am getting absolutely no response from Gary. Seems like the system is down company wide yet again. How is it that the system always goes down on Friday? All I need to do is get them to put a #### empty trailer on me so I can get out of the gate at Charlotte so I can actually get home for half a day for my g/f's daughters birthday party. That doesn't matter though.

Still sitting here waiting for a response. And Gary operations wonders why they are the least productive operating center in the entire company. They want to blame the drivers of course.
