I havn't idled until last night....first time in 8 weeks. Before that I never left the truck running for more than 30 minutes. When I saw it idle I was like cool.....its 0 degree's outside I think I will just leave it on. I woke up to go to the restroom, After that I saw it was -15*F.....I didn't need to go anymore.

The sleep apnea thing shouldn't be killing the batteries either. I can run my bunk heater, cooler, cellphone, and TV all night and the lights still work in the morning so I can get dressed and let my bunk heater cool down before I start the engine to warm it up during my pre trip. This only applies to a 10 hour break though with no power usage after shutting the truck off from running all day.

I will say that 34 hour restarts are not going to work very well. I had to start the engine for 15-20 minutes every 2 hours and even that wasn't enough, I woke up to a dead bunk heater this morning and 49 degrees inside my truck. Thankfully I use a heavy comforter during the winter so I was able to stay warm after it died. I had to freeze for 15 minutes until the truck warmed up though because the bunk heater would only restart for 5 minutes when the batteries got that low.

Next time I am forced to do a 34 hour reset I will be getting a hotel room and sending the receipt to my DBL. There's no way I'm freezing or sweating my ### off to save a few dollars on fuel.

I was planning on staying with SNI for at least another 12-15 months to get my 2 years of experience before moving on but I've now started considering other options. I want to do Flatbed and this freezing during a forced 34 is making me consider moving on sooner than I had intended.

Only if they are going to keep the truck for more than two years from now. I have an 06' and they said they don't want to waste the money on installing one since it'll be disposed by mid-year.

When I was hired new drivers were eligible for a bonus for the 2nd full quarter after they were hired. So since i was hierd in November, I wasn't eligible for Q4 2011 or Q1 2012 but I have been eligible to receive it every quarter since.

I've never gotten it because my idle time was always too high.

    BossOutlaw88 Thanks this.

I'm not quite sure what to think of the place I'm delivering to right now. The original place the GPS and WF sent me to was a little shack in a residential neighborhood. After going about a mile through that I was able to turn around and get back to the shack. When I got there I was told to wait 5 minutes and they would take me to the real unload place.

After waiting for 5 minutes a couple guys in an old pickup drive up and tell me to follow them to the place. Go a few miles back to where I came from and they have me pull into this little boat yard with a couple steel buildings in it. After barely clearing the gates coming in I had to back into one of the buildings where they are going to unload me. There's no docks or portable ramp to go into the trailer. They are going to use a fork lift and a rope to pull each of the 2500lb pallets of salt to the end of the trailer to unload it. But they had to leave me here for a bit, they had to go back to the first place and get a longer rope.:biggrin_25523:
