Well Maverick accepted my application. They had room in the orientation class starting this Sunday but I won't be able to go to it. Apparently they need to see my Social Security card. Problem is that mine is laminated and has been for about 20 years. They won't accept a laminated card and the Social Security offices all closed at 3PM so I can't go get a new one today. Monday is a holiday so the soonest I'd be able to get a new one is Tuesday. So because of that the next available date is next Sunday, January 27th. I was going to work until then, but I need to be able to go to the Social Security office on Tuesday so there's no way I can work because I need to be in town to go.

It's looking like I'm going to quit either today or on Monday. I have enough saved up that I can make it for a couple more weeks without a paycheck. They should still owe me for the week of vacation time that I never used. That will help cover some costs when ever they decide to make that check out.

I'll still go pick up the truck for them and return it to the yard so I can clean my stuff out of it.

    It's been fun SNI drivers.

No problem I'm keeping my new direction to myself because I don't know if it will workout so I'm taking a little risk on it. Also since it's new to me I won't be able to answer any questions people will probably ask. Hopefully in a month or two I can report back good news or I'll just be working for waste management picking up garbage.

I have a 2010 and it was flat out filthy and nasty. It took my wife and I 4hrs of scrubbing to get it drive-able then I spent two hours the next morning cleaning some more. Then I spent at least an hour on all my breaks before bed cleaning the truck before it was ok. It took about 2 months to really get it clean. When I drop it off I'll just empty it out that's it. My truck is spotless everyday except maybe my floor board when visiting muddy lots LOL and that's clean by the next coffee break. So who ever gets my truck won't have to do anything but move in and drive.

Yup freight is slow that's for sure. But what bugs me is they'll complain if you take an extra day off. Do you have miles for me? No but we just need the truck out there LOL so we go out and sit for free no scratch that I have fixed cost for being in the truck regardless of moving or not so not moving actually costs me money. I see us company drivers just getting the scraps the O\O and lease guys don't and won't pull. That's why IMO all are runs are shorter and shorter and more and more live loads and unloads.

oragonads you averaged 293 miles a day. Not sure about you but I make .28 CPM so that's $82 a day. Now pay taxes and health insurance (tax 20% and $100 a week ins) and its about $50 a day. Now feed your self LOL ok were not eating this week LOL This is exactly what I'm talking about if were not running close to 500 miles a day were not making any money. The joke you could make more at being a Walmart door greeter makes sense when you look at this.

I never said this is a fairytale life and I also know you will never get rich being a truck driver, but I also know that being out for 6-8 weeks at a time and only taking off 4 days pays more than $200 a week. I know the life of a truck driver my family has owned a trucking company as far back as i can remember. But with all of that being said I have researched and talked to a plethora of owner operators I know roughly what my payments will be and how many miles to expect and what schneider pays per mile. What I asked for was advice, not to be attacked and talked to like a child!

Actually I usually do alright. Most paychecks are between $700-$1000. Last week sucked though.

Yeah laminated ss card is bad deal. Just get a baseball card saver and slide it in.

Thanks for the idea with that. It's my original card so it's 22 years old. I think we laminated them about 15 years ago. I'll have to go get one of those things.
