Got hired on by SNI recently, start orientation next Monday in Carlisle PA. I have got 2 years exp. in oilfield driving so I am used to some pretty tough driving, but to be honest I am nervous as hell. There is lots of little stuff out there that I have no exp. with, like sliding tandems, etc. That and seeing as I am in the Northeast I am not looking forward to NYC, Pitt, Boston, etc. But I am excited as well, new opportunity and experiences, should be interesting.

 

I believe it has to be 72 hours to start then it's a minimum 4 hours every night.

I'm hoping to train for their tanker/oilfield division someday. My GF and I want to move to Texas. Being hired on and trained for tankers would be enough motivation to make the move.

 

Best bet on that would be to look up some of the big energy service companies like Halliburton, Baker-Hughes, Schlumberger, Weatherford, etc and join them where you are now and then transfer over to TX, at least thats the way I would do it.

Why do you not wave back to me? We are both on the same "team", and if you were stopped on the side of the road, I'd pull right off and walk back to see if you needed any help...

Remember though, I'm an "old fart" and was driving when Bill Gates was a gleam in his mothers eyes...

I always wave to other drivers. I've noticed that most Van drivers will return the wave. Bulk and Intermodal guys never do.

 

Van drivers always return the wave, intermodal drivers....nope. Regular day cab drivers pulling pups or a van, they wave back. Anyone passing me up slow, I usually give them the wave and slow down a bit to let them pass. Man te pilot in weed gets out of control after hours.....if I needed to I can't even get out because drivers are parked in non designated spots :/

 

According to my paperwork, it is at least 4 hours a night 70% of the time. Which means in a 30 day month, you could get by with not using it 9 nights if my math is right. But it is best to use it every night just to be on the safe side.

 

I have to admit, I don't waive at most unless I know who they are. When I was with smaller companies, I waived all the time cuz I didn't see one a mile like I do at SNI. I waive at most dedicated. You can usually tell who is dedicated and who is not. Nothing against system drivers, there is just so many.
