Some of these customers better wake up to the fact that elogs are on the increase....drivers don't have the "margin" to work with as they once did. Of course, the companies have to take their tails out from between their legs and push the envelope when it comes to detaining drivers.

They need to do away with live loads and unloads. Or eliminate hourly wage entirely and pay upon performance. It's complete BS that a guy on a forklift is in charge of our time. Haha

Back in the day you brought in your own LUMPER or lumpers they'd ride into the warehouse standing on the running boards. Those guys would b lined up at gates waiting for a job.

I thought I read that the transportation committee in the house had a debate about this kind of stuff. Not what if anything came out of it, but it seems to be heading in the right direction?

The problem is that no matter how much they make it illegal for shippers to detain drivers you can't fix the problem of lazy people working on the docks. That guy has a Union rep who says he gets 20 smoke breaks throughout the day. If he doesn't he'll file a grievance and whine about having to work.

Once they start fining shippers for detaining drivers the shippers will just roll the cost of the fine into their prices and products will just cost more. The profit for the shipper won't change.

If they "push" too hard, they might lose the customer. They'll never speak up.
