Why try to prove him wrong? What works for some doesn't work for others. He's almost certainly correct that you can find much better deals elsewhere. You'd obviously get better payment setups outside of SFI. With that said, however, you get the support of Schneider finance when if you go elsewhere you're basically on your own. So you do get something for the extra money. Is it worth it? Depends on the person I would say.
What I don't agree with is someone suggesting that the world will end if you sign a lease with a company. Oh my god, the humanity! LOL Obviously Schneider is making out big time on the deal. They wouldn't offer something if they're losing on it. But even if you end up getting screwed on the deal you always can move on. -
Anybody know the website for viewing your elogs? I have to once again redo my paper logs to match the dive time that my blogs showed. Probably still won't work as most days the blog was probably in driving for more then 11 hours. Also the 70 hour clock will probably show I went passed at least 1 of the days.

Just a quick random question but today in orientation they went over that the first 90 days will be paid per diem. The real question is is it worth it or should I go mileage pay after the 90 days. Also I will be a company driver if that helps clear up the answer.

well, you can switch off at the end of 90 days and see what the next 90 days do for you. This is a very personal decision. For soem per diem benefits, for others full pay.

As a new company driver, you are required to be on Schneider's per diem plan for the first 90 days. This doesn't affect whether or not you are on mileage - you are, period - it's theoretically a way to reduce your tax burden. Whether or not you stay on per diem will depend entirely on your personal situation. It works for some - my accountant recommended I stay on it due to our particular situation - but not for others. There are those on here with strong opinions either way.
The way I understand per diem is: (this is very basic. GET AN ACCOUNTANT FAMILIAR WITH TRUCKING!!!)
The tax law provides a deduction of $59 per day that you are out on the road, and a percentage of that (someone help me here - I don't remember the percentage - 50%?) for the days that you leave or arrive home. Schneider pays you 14.5 cents per mile tax free, they withhold 2 cents for administering this plan, and the remainder of your mileage rate constitutes your taxable income. For example: if your per mile rate is 30 cents, SNI withholds 2, pays you 14.5 tax free, and you pay taxes on the remaining 13.5 cents per mile. At the end of the year, you can deduct the difference in what the government allows and what you actually received from SNI, subject to the standard IRS rules dealing with deductions. The total amount you received from SNI will be on your W-2, from what I understand. I do know that the year to date amount is on your paycheck stub (once you start getting them, that is).
Perceived advantages include things like larger paychecks and a lower tax bill at the end of the year. Perceived disadvantages include less paid into your social security account and lower 1040 income for things like buying a house or car.

Exactly what I've decided to do. I'm tired of the idiots in regulatory giving me the run around. I've been dealing with this #### for over 2 weeks now. They have the paper logs and there's no reason not to use them. The e-logs were inoperable, therefore they are invalid. It doesn't matter if there's more drive time on the elogs or not, there invalid. The paper logs were what I was using, not the #### elogs.
FYI. If you find already know, I was on paper logs for 4 days because my Qualcomm fell and cracked the screen making the touchscreen inoperable, therefore my elogs were stuck on on duty and driving for almost 4 days.
