Bootsie has another question.
Bootsie appreciates the info provided by JH and all the other contributors to this thread. As Bootsie acknowledged previously he's now seriously investigating SNI, leasing and being an IC in general. Bootsie also knows there are two sides to every coin. As such Bootsie is reading lots of other threads, many of which are anti-IC, anti-leasing, anti-happiness (OK, maybe they're not anti-happiness). Bootsie isn't sure of the motives of those 'Nattering Naybobs of Negativity'. However, they do make Bootsie think (and isn't that the point?).
One of the recurring themes seems to be that companies (including the Blessed and Sainted Schneider National) withholds the truly premium loads from the IC's and only gives them to company drivers. The logic is that high revenue loads are so valuable and have such high margins that only Company drivers (being paid poverty wages) get them thus enriching the pockets of the evil owners (a pox on their houses!). The posters postulate that a company would be nuts not to haul these high-premium loads in house. Bootsie sees the logic of this premise, however Bootsie doesn't necessarily believe it either.
What say you JH, DFO, ew, et al? Do you ever see high revenue low cost loads or do you just have to choose from the fair-to-middling offerings that SNI doesn't want to haul with their trucks/drivers?
(Bootsie doesn't like the auto-correct feature on this site, it always wants to correct 'Bootsie' to 'Boot See' or other such abominations. The indignity of it all.)
Regards, Bootsie

If that were the case I would haul more Frito Lay loads than I do. The IC's snap them up and leave us poor company shmucks with 45,000 lbs of sugar being delivered to a bakery just outside of the Loop where you have to get unloaded on the street.
Dogals right foot Thanks this. -

But, since you book your own freight, you DO have to be fast to grab many of the "premium", one off, high dollar loads that show up. Believe me, others are watching and waiting for them to show up as well. Doesn't matter to me though, I never haul those, I just haul consistent freight because it's been what I've done for the past year and it works for me. I spend about 15 minutes on the load board a day, if even. Every once in a while I'll grab one of those "fun" loads though to mix it up a bit.Dipschitt Thanks this. -
Finally!
Just read the entire thread from beginning. Totally awesome post by people willing to share the good and bad. Just a couple questions I didn't see anywhere, but may have missed them; it was a blurry eyed ordeal the last two afternoons of reading. #1 Can I hear from any of you leasers out there from the west? I live in Colorado and wondering how the westerners are making a go of it. #2 Mention was made in a few posts of bulk hauling. Does Sch have the Choice program for bulk yet? I called them last evening and left a message in regards to bulk, but have not heard back. Thanks everyone and especially Jar-Head, you rock man. Congrats to you and the others getting into new trucks. -
Bootsie says thanks, that makes sense.
