The last investigator I hired prior to retiring had worked SNI company side for 5 years. He loved it; the only thing he didn't like was not having an APU and having to idle when it was cold/hot - he was pretty sensitive to environmental things - and the only reason he came back into aviation was to please the woman who let him live with her.

I told him he had his priorities right.

That is entirely false. You will never get better fuel mileage at 75 than 60. It's basic physics. Faster speeds you have to displace more air. Which requires more force to move the truck down the road.
The thing most drivers don't understand is you don't have to be in top gear to move freight. So if the truck is specced to run at 75 in 13th then you drop a gear or 2 and run 60. You can't run 60 in 13th in a truck that's setup to run 75 in 13th. It drops the rpm too low.

I thought the maintenance account was a requirement with Schneider? How'd you get out of that one?

Also is it a lot cheaper to get outside insurance instead of through SNI?

That sure will help your net revenue. I worked in sales long enough to be able to notice tall tales and sales pitches. One of the main ways you close a sale is convincing people that you know more about something than the next guy.

Next time please read my whole post. I never said the 60 mph truck would get less. I did state that a truck doing 75 can be speced to get closed to it. Every truck is like a lady, you find her sweet spot and ride it until the cows come home.

I was just pointing out slower is not the only way its done. And can easily be profitable at 75 as you can at 60. Its all driver preference and how the driver runs his truck among 1000 other factors.

Just a fyi, im not telling anyone how to run there truck. I think everyone here is more then capable of running there company.

If you are not financing the truck through Schneider Finance, Schneider will not allow you to set up a maintenance account. You are on your own to put the money away for repairs. You can find better insurance coverage outside of Schneider for just a bit more a month. OOIDA has a nice ala cart insurance that I use that can include towing and better glass coverage.

It's optional ... But to get out of it you must show ability to pay your own repairs

My truck is financed through SNI .. in order to not do the maint account you have to show financial stability .. to be able to pay for out of pocket repairs not covered by warranty ... Ie; maint , tires , brakes , drums etc

If you got $500 in the bank your doing the maint account is my point ..

I was a owner op prior to doing the lease hence I had my own maint account already ..
