That's the way I look at it. I don't mind going up there, but I don't want to stay lol...I usually get a load right back out and it does avg. out in the end.

Yup you have to look ahead when going up that far..1.77/mile is sweet getting out of there.
Usually it's in the toilet around 1.05-1.18/mile.
You can make good money coming in so it helps your average..but I NEVER run for less than 1.27/mile.
Plus the loads coming out are almost always heavy..I'm looking at you Poland springs.

There was a run I did for my old boss from poland springs Maine to manhatten before you say no way it was not hard and he got about $1300 for 344 miles. I do not know if it is available to you guys. There is no loading dock they hold a corner for you and I would go there by 0100-0200 and there would be parking on that block or the one before it. You check in the morning and they call you when they are ready. They were extremely fast about 4-6 trucks an hour. The first time was rough but once you see how it works it was a really easy run. I would get the guys who unloaded my truck caramel mocha coffees from Dunkin Doughnuts and some how I was always next.

Last payroll was sketchy because I started on Thirsday with the break down but the numbers ended up like this

    load 1 - KY to PA $1899
    load 2 PA to NH. $ 1103 ( I think ) but close
    load 3 NH to PA $ 447

    $3449 on roughly 1877 miles ( hub )
nkt a bad turn out for the week

this week should net me around $2100 I'm thinking cause I over bought a little fuel cause i screwed up so I cost my self around 100 on my oversight but still a good week over all .. Despite the break down

    note ....

when I say last payroll I mean the one that just ended Monday so to me that was last payroll .. Lol cause I'm on this one now :)
