Yeah I've heard those electric apu units are junk. These new Mack's we are getting have them. I would rather have a tried and trusted diesel powered unit.

Ye we both requested getting diesel apps i fact we said we'd pay for the installation but they turned us both down. If I were to do is over again as they say hindsight is 2020... I would save up 5 to 10 grand and get used truck from dealer with low monthly payments and go drive for land star. They are only owner op and have been in the choose your ow load racket decades before SNI just started getting into it. lso I Che Jed the load rates on a drivers computer and compared them to ours on SNI and for example same load out of Shreveport we getting .99 cpm for 42k pounds paper rolls and land star was paying their driver 1.43 cpm.

The landstar load board shows gross pay. The driver gets 65 percent of gross pulling company van.

Glad you got out of that lease. Your new plan sounds better.

I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. But to be fair, an exhaust pipe can fail at a moments notice. If it was on top of the trans, a routine inspection would not have included removing it just to see if it was OK. Not resolving the white stuff on the dipstick was not wise. That was a BIG RED FLASHING WARNING LIGHT telling you to stop.

And to be fair to you, getting in a strange truck, you likely would not have heard an exhaust leak especially if it was just starting.

Like I said earlier, to think one would not use the entire maintenance account on a used truck is just dreaming. I've owned my teuck since new and use the B.O.A.T. principle when it comes to maintenance.

    Bet On Another Thousand.

With the price of new trucks and the complicated, costly emissions systems, I think I would opt for an older truck with no dpf, scr or egr. New trucks require def and have higher insurance costs.

And older trucks cost you less when taking time off. Lower payments .

I bought my truck new. It now has 1.1 million miles. Dependable. Runs like new. New trucks are over rated. I've owned 2 new ones.

If I buy a new truck, I will most likely buy a glider. I see Freightliner gliders advertised for about $ 116 000..

I can easily afford any new truck, but I am avoiding the new emissions as long as possible.

Knight Rider, I see you live in CA so an old truck won't work you. You need the dpf. Oh well.

This illustrates a severe handicap of SNI's Choice program for contractors. Dry van rates have been way over the top in many markets for over 10 weeks now. With the choice program the rate is posted on the load and that's it, take it or leave it... There is no negotiating whatsoever with the big orange borg. Of course when the choice drivers choose not to haul any of that stuff and if SNI can't cover it with company trucks then it goes out to the open market where it's either snatched up for nothing by some idiot or SNI gets bent over a barrel and it pays either a fair or possibly a fantastic rate. Self dispatch is only good if you are setting the rates. Choice program is an illusion of freedom and SNI sets the rate on every single load it's contractors roll for. It's a great system to control costs and keep a lid on rates for good customers - from the normal occasional wild upswings of an open market but really that doesn't benefit it's contracted drivers at all.

Yea I was thinking the same that there is no way residual after a year is 64k. My old 2009 after a year had residual of 47k roughly.

lomeranger yes the land star board is gross that 1.43 was after he calculated what he would get for the load.

i asked SNI T orientation if we could see what Schneider gets paid for the load so it's fair to us to know that we are indeed getting 65%... They flat out said nope. We don't do that.

also i would look up loads in areas that I knew as a company driver we would get light loads since they were paper cups etc but not a single load would show available there. Which made me to think that SNI gives light loads to company rivers to save fuel on themselves and gives heavy stuff to us.

if you went down south you were stuck with heavy paper rolls no matter which direction you're going and at dirt cheap rates.

    #### it scut I'm so glad I was able to get out of that lease now for ever ill be crying to people not to sign any #### lease no matter what. I saw a lady sign lease on brand new cascadias and she didn't even know how to look up loads on load board. I mean what after listening to the recruiters for days you realize like I said that SNI is not the SNI of don schneiders era it's just another swift or Werner anymore.

Just goes to show what a sham they are running. By law they must show you the freight bill since they're paying %age. I would never lease on to a company who broke the law and had things to lie about and hide.

I hauled 2 loads of paper rolls down south this past week. One paid $1,350 gross on 302 loaded miles and the second one paid $3,300 gross on 923 loaded miles. You see when you leverage your truck correctly roll stock does not have to be cheap. many times during the year it is and will move for half that rate or much worse. But with SNI you just accept their rate, which of course everyone "knows that roll stock is cheap"... ...yep, if you allow it to be and if they are hiding something from you.
