And how is that 'choice' working out? Not very well from my comprehension of the English language.
A year huh? Wonder how many folks make it though......

The cure to the world problems!
As far as what freight to pull, I already answered that via pm's.
There is a reason why the vast majority of training schools use van trailers and not open trailers. Like I said, if all you want to do is swing doors, you will be paid accordingly.
Our company drivers are making over $50k a year, and doing less miles to make it. And we are far from the only company doing that.
As far as owner operators go, last year I averaged $2.44 on every one of my hub miles, with probably 40% of those miles being dead head.
Their trailer,.my truck, paid every Thursday like clockwork. I am in no way special, I just don't mind working for my money and not just sitting in a seat for 11 hours a day.
That, and a lower truck payment than any Flease deal, along with no bs charges, and it becomes pretty obvious to most of us where the good money is. at. And yes, I put a good chunk in my pocket after all expenses.
How someone can figure that getting paid less, but paying more for a truck makes good business sense, is beyond me I guess.
Why is it that people get so defensive over calling a spade a spade?
As far as i know, non of us more experienced owner operators have called anyone stupid etc , but name the bad point of Flease deals, and a lot of you act like we just called your mother a space alien!!
Remember folks, the ones that answer your questions are the ones that have been there and done that for the most part. Most of us have learned the hard way what it takes to succeed, and what is a recipe for disaster. Take the advise like an adult, or grab your ball and run on home, no difference to us that answer your questions on a daily basis. Besides shaking our heads at the seemingly good brain washing some of you receive, we just walk away chuckling
Now, please read my post thoroughly and take it for what it is before replying with some silly defensive comment. I didn't insult anybody, I didn't call anyone stupid, and so on. Just plain old advise from one that has made mistakes and is just trying to stop others from losing money. Or in the very least making less money than they are capable of.
No.I.have never done a Flease deal, but am pretty handy with a calculator, and know what it takes to be halfway successful in this industry.
Oh . well, can lead a horse to water..........

It great to come on here and say I made 8.50 a mile, every mile, and my truck is paid for and I never had a breakdown and I go home for 3 days a week.......Tell us how you started out with out the I put $80K down on a truck......Click to expand... -
I doubt I pay more for my trucks than some Flease deal myself, at the end of the term that is.
I paid cash for my first trucks, plain and simple. Start at the bottom and work your way up
Work, save money, buy truck. If you have credit, goto a dealer and choose your truck yourself. If not save and pay cash.
I have pretty much always pulled open trailer, as it pays more, plain and simple common sense in my book.
I for one have NOT looked down my nose at anyone , unless they say totally stupid things.that defy logic.
There, that's how I started, no big secret to it, besides hard work, and not wanting the most shiny truck on the road to start with.
Now maybe you'll stop being so defensive and maybe, just maybe, understand that we are only trying to help you guys avoid a financial disaster. No difference to me at the end of the day, I still load my good paying load today at noon.

I figured you paid cash for your truck but that is the difference here....some people can not......and thus we have lease purchases.....the only way for some people.....do we overpay, yes, but it is a way to start and to overcome in the following years....is it a gamble...yes....but you have to work it so the odds are on your side.....
good luck in your good paying load today......and good luck to those who may not get a good paying load today......it all comes around ! -
Oh my first trucks, both here and back in England, were FAR from nice and fancy in any way! No air ride, small sleeper, and so in. Made me money though!
If I came off as being arrogant, sorry, it was certainly not my intention. Just trying to offer advise is all.
I would still not go to a carriers lease purchase though, but look at other 'special' funding options like lone mountain etc.
If someone isn't making good money hauling general freight, change what you haul, don't think that a carrier lease purchase is going to fix nothing.
Will try to remember to take a photo of todays load when I load it .

I do have the means to pay cash for any truck in the market, but I want to try leasing a truck first to see how it goes. I make more money lending out my money than driving a truck. But I'm involved in trucking first cause I love driving and seeing new places and people and it keeps me busy mentally and physically.

If I was in trucking for the cash, I would have left Werner the first 3 months, cause making .24 CPM + .04 CPM Safety Bonus, I could not live the lifestyle I'm used to. For example, the first helicopter I got, did it thru leasing, then I went ahead and bought a helicopter, which is parked at the Palomar Airport in Carlsbad, CA....so anyone wanting a tour of Southern California?? ...just holler
mattbnr Thanks this. -
In other words if you got something to say that's positive, go ahead and say it, but if your going to respond something bitter, don't sour it for others

At least if I'm a lease op I am in control. I am the one saying to run. I am the one to blame for a bad week. Right now all I can do is yell at my dispatcher who doesn't care. So what am I losing really? The chance to maybe do better? You name me one company guy who on a regular basis week in an week out who grosses over 1000 a week an ill quit my job tomorrow and join his company. I'm not talking heavy haul or specialized or no #### like that either. I mean dry van or reefer.Click to expand...

@ RockinNewBee Some people need to hear the truth. Not everyone is a multimillionaire with toy helicopters and money to burn on adventure. These are real people about to make a huge gamble.
