Hey, I've got OTR exp., i used to work for prime, thought the QC was confusing at first but learned it real quick, macros were a nuisance but they were simple:

pre/post trips you would just basically check off each thing that was in working order and agree that truck is road worthy

    you do your empty macro

than you do your loaded macro... and a "live load call" were you basically recite the information on the bills such as pallet count, weight, pieces, bol number, etc.

It's not rocket science at all just a nuisance...

But i've been on here reading up on Schneider - i'm starting orientation next week.

From what i've read on this forum Schneider has a really confusing bunch of macros.

    Especally the macro 18.

Any pumpkin drivers out there have any macro advice you can give me?

I know how to trip plan - i have never gotten a service failure, and all that... but i trip plan my way - it works for me and is simple.

i don't trip plan with weird numbers and all that stuff i don't get anywhere near as complicated as their mac18 looks to be.

do u HAVE to do that?

do u HAVE to show them your trip plan?

or can u give your ETAs and stuff in a simple free form msg with way less useless info?

and WHY???? do you have to send them a macro with your available hours when the QUALCOM HAS THAT INFO ON IT AND THEY CAN LOOK IT UP???

I haven't actually gone to orientation yet, but personally i think they are making it way more complicated than Prime did.

I don't like prime... they S#$HITED ON ME.

But... while Schneider is possibly better but maybe not... the macros seem assininely complex and there's no need of it.

Is it really that crazy or not?

    Thanks.:biggrin_2555:

Dude, don't try to out think the room. The macros are not complicated. As far as your logs, the load planners don't see your hours until you send in a macro telling them how many you used the last couple days and how many you estimate you will have when you are done with your load. (The logs go to regulatory when you hit "approve" on the QC). You don't "show you trip plan" but when you send in your daily macro that is where you let them know how many hrs on your 11 and 70 you will have left after you complete you current assignment. They use that info to match you up with your next load. (plus adding in if there are hometime requests, maint issues etc).

They will explain all of this in orientation, don't worry. Plus your driver manager will be able to help as well. After a few days or weeks it will be routine and you wont even think about it anymore.
