Can anyone give me a heads up on a typical work week doing Midwest Intermodal with Schneider based out of Chicago? I am currently driving OTR Tanker with 8 months experience. Things I would like to know; where are you based from? do you primarily drive day or night? can you use toll roads? do you have forced routing? which rail yards do you mostly use? average miles in a week? are you home weekends?
Before I call a recruiter I would like to hear from a few drivers who have first hand knowledge about it because I'm afraid that I'll get smoke driven up my #ss. Thanks!

If you'd checked their site, 2yr exp min for intermodal unless they are now fudging on that
Chicagoland pays among the highest per their site again for intermodal, and they had a fairly lucrative sign on, relocation something payout last yr. The one thing have heard with Schneider is that they use aluminum cans vs steel like JB, understand the aluminums have tendency to leak alot more often, and this ends up a real grind at the rail yard when dry is required. Another crucial item to keep in mind, if coming in with less than 7yrs exp, it can take forever to finally make a buck. Carefully add up per move payout, miles,..etc ..They have invested in newer daycab trucks, seen um at the yards
Sorry, but cant accurately answer much else, let alone what posted, good questions though on toll roads,etc.. -
Their website says 6 months exp. Why 7 years to make a decent buck? I currently make .33/mile at around 2000 miles/week. Are you saying I won't make more than that?
What areas do they travel in the midwest? -
There's more info here and else where on web regarding intermodal, JB,Schneider and so on.
Read through post again carefully, do your own due diligence on the facts, and there you go
