They pay short miles. If your load get cancelled or you are deadheading looking for an empty you are doing it for free . This whole deal is a mousetrap. You will end up making maybe 5 cents better than a co driver if you are lucky but sure will be putting more hours in too.
Unless you can get 10 mpg to bring your cost per mile down.
What is your cost per mile btw?

I was gonna say....why bother even looking at it? Right there on their website they offer the full pay for a tanker operator so no need to worry about "performance".

There is no need to run a calculator on this either, you can't operate a truck on these numbers, or not for long anyway.

All this is very interesting because I have been attempting to find out how a o/o pulling tankers on this program was making a profit.
i attempted to get an answer from a Schneider recruiter on this very subject. She couldn't tell me why they didn't offer the "choice" program for the bulk division but said it is operated as over the road which means your roving around for 10-14 days at a time pulling what they want you to.
in my opinion, that's just a glorified co driver paying the trk note.
I saw my first o/o pulling a tanker I think this past weekend but was going the opposite direction and wasn't answering the cb so I couldn't get any answers.
I've expressed interest in the program but can't seem to get any concrete answers from drivers nor Schneider, so everything with them is on hold until....??????

You don't pull what they tell you. You have a choice on whether or not to take it. Secondly bulk doesn't have choice because the freight systems are totally different. Choice wouldn't work for bulk. I have talked to maybe four o/o's and they all seemed happy. Can't tell you much more than that. I will say this, don't base any decision off of what the van side does. Bulk is different. You have to find bulk drivers and talk to them.

This this this this. I am not going o/o for the tanker side, but the van side. I didn't base my decision off of what I read on Schneiders website, what some recuiter, or what someone said their "friend" said about it. I talked to driver after driver after driver that was actually running on the program that I was interested in getting on. Be careful about what you read on the internet too...
