I just wanna comment on the ilde situation and the webasto issue. My truckis a 2003 and it has a webasto but it hasn't worked right since the day I got it. At first it would run but would only blow cold air. Now it won't even turn on. It has been like that for about 3 weeks now and only about a week ago after arguing with my STL for 2 weeks that my webasto was broken did he finally break down and start recording the idle time i have at night until i can get it fixed. The truck is due for its annual inspection by Jan.6 and I have been trying to get the truck in the shop.........Goodluck with that. I can't get a loaner truck, and all the shops I've been to at Schneider OC's are booked solid for like 4 days and I can't seem to get my stl to just let me sit for a couple days. Well come JAN 6th my truck won't be going anywhere. They are crazy on their IDLE, 20% if you don't have a webasto and 5% if you have one (even if it doesn't work). So far Schneider has been pretty good to me, they have their problems just like any other company but pretty good so far.

Well all I know is what I went through with my recruiter. I applied on a Sunday night, she got back to me that Monday, I answered yes to their Question of if I was interested in a certain position they had. She called back on Wednesday for a more in-depth interview where I answered a bunch of questions going into more detail about what was on my application and such. When I answered the way she wanted, she offered me the initial job offer.
Here is one thing that I think lots of people don't understand. They make you a job offer, they don't gurantee you a job. Its all CONDITIONAL on you completing training? Theh paperwork I got even stated conditional on it. What are the chances of finishing? Well think of it this way, 24 of us started our class, I think 10 finished, and of those...I know 8 still remain with Schneider. Their job offer is not "if you say yes, you are guaranteed a job with us even if you bomb everything in training"...its conditional based on you finishing their training, OTR training, your SQT, and your CDL exam.
After her initial job offer, she flat out told me that she wouldnt start going through my job history and references until the next week. They have other departments that work with the recrutiers as well, pulling background checks and the like. They do lots of stuff in steps...they dont just flip through your stuff and blindfolded pick something to look at. She needed everything done by that next friday afternoon, and on that next Wednesday is when she called with a issue regarding a ticket I had. So even though she told me a week prior I was accepted and was to start training and such, I still had an issue with getting going with the company until my ticket issue was taken care of. You aren't given anything with the company resembling a job until you finish every single item you need to finish (mentioned above: 2 week training course, OTR, SQT, CDL exam). I myself knew I didn't have a job until I got my CDL in my hand and my DBL shook my hand and I went up to learn my route.

I don't know how much you have driven a truck at all. But here are some facts:
*its the LAW. Click it, or ticket.
*IT IS wreckless driving, because it means you are disregarding the law, and your own safety. In a truck, many people have commented about how a seatbelt kept them in the seat during manuvers and large bumps and such. The belt is called a 'restraint' meaning it keeps you in the seat, not just for accidents, but for general movement while driving.
*There are tons more facts, but I just woke up, brain no worky.

All I know is that for me personally, I hardly ever wear my belt while driving my car, but not one single day has gone by without wearing it in the truck.

    Mlajoie,
The webasto isnt part of the inspection is it? Its not critical to the working of the truck so I don't think that would raise any flags during inspection, would it? Sucks that its broken...hope you can get it fixed. Hmm, do you live near an OC at all? I mean, some people live far away from an OC and can take their trucks home. Maybe your DBL could get you into a freightliner or similar truck shop while out on the road. I ask this because since Im dedicated, Schneider somehow has gotten two shops in the town I live to work on my truck if any issues come up, or for a PM. All I do when I bring it in is make a list and tape it to the steering wheel.
Or maybe you can call an OC and ask a shop guy what you can do to troubleshoot it. I think you could call lots of people (freightliner, webasto...etc) and see if you could get some general questions asked because mayb its something you could fix easily on your own.

ok, this is funny, you think I am upset because they turned me down about my seatbelt tickets, no I am not mad because of that.

I am mad because they lead me on and lied to me, I am mad that they told me my paperwork was done and processed and then told me congratulations, and after that they came back with that ########! to have safety reject me at the last moment showed me that my paperwork was not done, and that meant she lied to me...

I am well over 21 years of age

I have no felony or misdemeanor convictions

I did pass my DOT physical

I have a solid work history

I have No convictions for careless (of a higher degree) or reckless driving, alcohol or drugsReckless driving - A person who drives a vehicle heedlessly, in willful or wanton disregard of the rights or safety of others, in a manner so as to endanger, or be likely to endanger, a person or property, shall be guilty of reckless driving.

Careless driving - A person who drives a vehicle carelessly, or without due caution and circumspection, in a manner so as to endanger, or be likely to endanger, a person or property, shall be guilty of careless driving.

those have nothing to do with wearing a seatbelt, because seatbelts don't hurt other drivers, drivers hurt other drivers

I don't care about my seatbelt tickets, they can keep that policy, but for what they did I don't have to worry about ever driving for them, I wont go with a company that has no morals or good standards

But on a serious note I am thinking about taking my acceptance letter and all the paper that came with it and wipe my ### with it and send it back to them, they screw me and I #### on them... it will be a done deal

I live about 90 miles from my home OC in Canada and I have been there and also to Gary, IN to try to get my truck in for its AVI as well as the webasto, obviously the webasto is not the priority in this situation although my dbl is adement about me getting it fixed. The problem isn't getting it to an OC, the problem is right now, atleast at those two OC's I mentioned, the wait time to get your truck into the shop is rediculous. I am going to start teaming the week after new years so I mean for the next three weeks I think I can manage without my webasto even though it is really cold but the AVI is due Jan. 06, 2007.

Sorry they led you on, and lied to you, but again, they would not have had that opportunity if you realized that you do not have a Good driving record in the eyes of many carriers. And should realize that many recruiters would have to get your abstract approved through the safety dept with 3 tickets and a suspension on your record.

If you are more concerned with recruiters lying to you then the state of your driving record, then fine. I would say, stick to companies that don't use recruiters. Many of them lie to get your butt to orientation. And at least this one did not have you make the trip before they told you that you did not make it thru the hiring process. That shows me that they had more integrity then most. Heck, USX would have gotten you down to their terminal and then escorted you to the gate.

You also don't seem to get that you are NOT hired over the phone by ANY OTR trucking company, NONE. So I don't understand why you thought otherwise without completing orientation?

This makes no sense because it was their standards, and your minimizing of your driving record, that kept you from being accepted for orientation.
I would think you would have preferred that they lowered their standards to let you in and are pissed because they did not.

well being new to this site and a long time driver of 10 years and a past employee of schneider as a team with my wife we can say that as far as a company i would and still do tell people to try schneider they dont have nowhere near as many problems as some other companies and as for teams they run you as hard as you want granted its not always 7000 miles but they can constantly give you 6000 a week if you show you can drive and not spend your time at truckstops you have to remember that qualcom tells them all they need to know about how you drive. your stl does have a lot to do with your miles but ultimately its upto the drivers ability to drive. now i am not with schneider now but i am seriously considering going back soon. so everyone has their opinion and this is mine.just remember everyone has bad things to say about any company as do i about schneider but the good out weighs the bad by far. stay safe and keep it between the lines

what i don't understand , is some people has quit their jobs to go in this program with sni, and not make it..then they have nothing. it would be nice if they would let you take two weeks vacation from your prev job and see if you pass the health test they require. But you have to quit your job before you can even sign up...

Sorry, but most trucking companies consider you unless you have quit your job. They will not take a leave .

I also work for Schneider, and my main complaint is not about pay. It is about the treatment you recieve from your STL. I probably average between 3000-3200 miles a week and I am always reimbursed for everything I turn in. The things I don't like about Schneider are the fact that they are a very inefficient company and it sometimes seems like the STL's or Planners don't have any idea what they are doing. They will send me 64mis to get an MT when there is a Wal Mart DC right across the street with 50 MTs sitting there. It is very hard to get in contact with someone to bring this to their attention. I have been with them for 9 months and have been running 25 days out 5 days at home, roundabout. Now they suddenly tell me after doing this for all these months, that now I have to MT everything out of my truck when I go home in case they loan it out to someone else. Some of this his began after I called in sick due to the fact that I was so sick, I didn't want to drive my car, let alone their truck. Since then it seems as if they are retaliaating against me for being sick. I could also be just me, I am going through things in my life outside of work which do effect my happiness, and though I try to seperate homelife from work. It is hard to do that when most of your life is spent in the truck:biggrin_25523: I will give them their 18 mos contact time and if things don't change I will leave. The only thing I am concerned about is leaving them and going some where worse, that would suck.:biggrin_2553: Well, I am not happy right now, but we will see what happens. Stay Safe Out There!

Well Id say stick with it and see if it improves. There are good and bad DBLs...dont think they are called STLs anymore...lol whatever three letter combo they are using now, who knows. Im on a dedicated run and I like it alot because I don't send in macros like OTRs do (well I do, but I just say when I delivered...jsut a plain freeform message). I rarely talk to my DBL because we don't really need to communicate. My load is brought to me, I do my job and get the frieght there, and then go home. Also home daily so thats a perk.
