Hometime - you should be home 90-95% of weekends, but there could be a time or two you are left out over the weekend. In three months, I was out over the weekend twice, but it is still better than many companies out there requiring two weeks on the road or more.

Miles - starting out, do not expect high miles, there are many things to learn and stress to deal with. You learning time management can help improve your amount of miles. I would not expect more than 2300 per week when you start out solo. These get better after a few weeks, just send your macros correctly and on time and mileage will improve. The highest mileage week I had was 2800, and that was only one week. You will not get as many miles on regional as you would OTR. Bunk heaters for winter, but no APU's.

Truck - your truck will be a Freightliner Century. Most likely orange. Expect an older truck, if you get newer than a 2006, consider yourself lucky. New drivers need to show that they are not going to tear up equipment before they receive better equipment. This is just common sense. Although it is done, a parent rarely buys a new BMW for a teenage (read new) driver. The same can be said for a company and a new CDL driver.

I am not trying to be an ##### in this. I am just trying to be pragmatic and realistic. With all the advertising for drivers out there, it is easy to get a bit big-headed on "I will accept this or not accept that" when you are new. Get some experience before you decide what is good in a company or not. Many drivers on the road bad mouth Schneider, but most of those doing the mouthing have not worked here and are only repeating things they heard from others that have not worked here. Some individuals may say they have had a bad experience, but it is like all large companies in any industry - many personalities, some not happy no matter what, and a few that do get shafted through no fault of their own. Unfortunately, it happens in any large company, not just transportation. Schneider is not a bad company IMHO. They have a few small things that I wish were different, but over all as a first company, they have done what they said for me. I have had a few issues with my DBL, but I don't blame Schneider for that. Keep your head on straight, keep a professional attitude, and everything will work out.

 

its black trucks only for regional orange and white are for all 48

 

That must have only started in the last couple of months because I started regional and was in an orange truck. I know it says regional on the door of the black trucks, but I know how I started and what color truck I was in.

 

Like all of trucking, I think truck color often calls into the category of "generalities".

Most regional trucks are black, but with the Nashville gig being new, heck...you could end up with a purple one for all anyone knows.

Spoke with a SNI driver a few days ago...he was a solo in a silver/grey T2000, a former team truck.
