I started with Schneider Bulk, my plan being the whole time to get exp and move onto the oil field. After 3 months, I took a week off and called a bunch of CL adds, came down to west Texas, got a job in a day. Turns out 3 months of jumping for pennies was a waste. West Texas lease roads are a joke compared to N.D. and other area's. If your new to trucking, this is a great place to start.

I just contacted Schneider, and they are not taking newbies at this time. You must have OTR experience or a recent 40 hour course. They no longer have a driving schools either. If you have better information, please share. I am moving West and have seen what this industry has to offer in the North East (it has almost literally saved Northern PA). Being retired military with a new CDL, I would like in on this gig. Good money, good hours .... I haven't seen a fracker who wasn't happy with his job.

I too would like to send many thanks to Rockdoctor.
His thread was an inspiration to me. I just graduated with my CDL-A w/ends: TX on May 14. Two weeks later I came
to S. Texas and got a job right away. 2nd company I visited. Manager hired me on the spot, took drug test next am and started my 2 weeks of training 7 days later @ $16/ hr to start.
It was busy then, but very slow now, until mid July I hear.
I spent the whole Memorial day weekend reading all I could, here and else where. But Rockdoctor's thread was the most informative and inspired me to come here from W. PA. There it is busy all around the Tri-State area but not like in Texas.
Thank you again Rockdoctor and all contributors to this thread.Rockdoctor, d o g and superpet39 Thank this. -

Pandemonium Basin is not slow yet. 69.5 hrs in with 2 days left in pay period. Not sure about S. Texas, but W. Texas is still rolling.
d o g and superpet39 Thank this. -
So the quickest way in is to find an area that isn't being flooded by people. Alvarado TX is one of those areas; but there slow right now. Deal with it for 6 months and you can then transfer where you want. Wyoming also is one of those areas; that's always trying to get people. In our area Pampa TX we hired like a bunch of people and were set for people right now.
You can also PM Me and Ill give you my Email to put into the referral box this will get you noticed as well.superpet39 Thanks this. -
