    Hi eveyone, hope you all are having a good day!

    Well, I can go with (hopefully)Schneider or Central Refrigerated Service.

    I've read only ONE post about how CRF is controlled owned by Swfit, but I read about 10+ posts with positive comments.
    Anyway, should I pull the trigger on CRF and go apply on Monday, or should I wait for a call or email from Schneider?

    Also, do you guys think one speeding (10MPH or under) ticket (07/05) will be a problem.

    Please :notworthy: reply by Sunday ...

    Many thanks in advance!:occasion5:

    EDIT-
    Schneider just called, I've gotta telephone interview on Wed.

    (In a nervous voice)
    What should I do:?::?:

    Hey everyone,
    I know everyone's on the road, but if you get a chance ... please comment on this thread.

    I'm confused ... everyone says Schneider is great, BUT ... they are only paying 25 cents p/mile. they aren't paying you during training.
    Does everyone know something I don't? :confused::smt102

    CRS pays for training and they pay 29cents. If anyone says anything to change my mind ... I'm goin to CFS on Monday and seal the deal.

    ...Only thing is, with CRS it's a refer (good or bad) and it's all 48 states (good, for me).

    Only thing I know about Central is that you do have to pay them back for the training via payroll deduction. Up until 5-1-07 Schneider's training is free so long as you drive for a year. Unless you are a California resident. Then, for whatever reason,they cannot come after you for the money if you decide to quit. When I talked with recruiter yesterday (5-16-2007) he told me that as of 5-1-2007 training will be payroll deducted, but at only $12.50 per week for 52 weeks. I think he said something like if you complete the full year then you get the money back.

    No, I mean they finance the schooling part yes ... but while you go through schooling you get paid.

    I'm reeeealy leaning towards Central ...

    Thursday I spoke with a woman in the personnel dept with Robertson's Ready Mix (headquartered in Corona, Ca. )as I have seen bumper stickers on the back of their cement mixer trucks and the double trailers trucks I see running between Cabazon and Moreno Valley everyday. They told me they pay $8/hour during training. They also have clearance from Calif DMV to do the final drive test at the end of the training period. You just have to bring in your learner's permit when you go in for the job interview. Now, I am not interested in driving a cement mixer truck, my interest would possibly be as a transfer driver drivng their red double trailers. The personnel person told me starting pay for cement driver is $13/hour, 8-12 hrs per day, six days per week. The transfer drivers are paid per load, but she did not not know what they per load pay is.

    from what i understand SNI (schneider) is going thru some changes and they are tired from people coming in getting training then leaving for better money and SNI has gotta start over with a new driver. SNI is trying to make it hard for a driver to just up and quit and if they do they SNI hits the driver where it hurts, the pocket book. I don't know much about Central but i haven't heard good/bad either. Refrigerated is different than just running box. you will spend more time at docks but the load time is pretty quick most of the time from my experiences from running reefer. there is also more responsibility too, you sure don't want the temp to run out of range for to long and ruin a load. too many times and the company might charge you for it or even fire you. If you got time and can afford it you might want to make some more phone calls out there and check out more options.

    What about the sleeping part,:sleepy2: I've heard it's kinda hard to sleep with it, but not if you idle.

    Check this out -

    Dude, I'm goin with CRS. I wanna get a good 6 months under my belt before I have to run the Rockies in Winter.:shock::pale:

    I guess you gotta go thtough with it at least once, who knows I may really dig it ...

    Edit -
    I was gonna leave a couple of links, one to Central's website, and a link from here. I did a search (upper right hand) for "Central Regrigerated Services," it was a bunch positive posts.

    I have to have 20 posts before I can insert a link.:smt102

    the reefer isn't all that loud inside the truck. just gotta get used to the cutting on/off the unit does all night. i personally prefer refer over van. just seems like i got more miles that way. good luck out there and be careful and try to stick it out for a year at least.
