"More home time" and "Florida" do not go together real well in the trucking industry. Out of the 48 contiguous states, you picked #48 on the list to move to.

double yellow Thanks this. -
Im with schneider currently and was supposed to be home weekly live near jacksonville fl they said theu couldnt do this after hited so i have to now stay out longer in process of switching to two dedicated accounts with werner that can get me home weekly my wife i also expecting so i know how you feel also have a young daughyer as well so home time is important to me however depending where you live in fl schneider has openings for dedicated out of palatka if your with in 50 miles and there training period is shorter than werner so you would be solo sooner weather thats good for you or not i do not know your choice other than not getting home when i like i really enjoy schneider

Did you complete a CDL school?
Which part of Florida do you plan to live? The hiring area you will live in makes a big difference in Florida.
Give us this information and we will try to help. -
I am out west but I am looking at these two options/companies as well. Came down to these two choices and I must say for me, the decision is not black and white. Pros and cons on both sides, but I do like the tone of the SNI forum here; lots of positive feedback and very little whining. Maybe it is because there are more former Werner drivers who feel as thought they where "abused" or unfairly treated but you hear more complaints from former Werner driver than the SNI crowd.
I don't let others unduly influence my decisions but I do have to factor in their experienced observations.
Chinatown usually has a finger on the pulse of activity and opportunity (not sure how they know all that they know but they keep it objective and don't rant a negative) in a given area. Sounds like FL is a special consideration that has to be weighed in your decision.
Good luck.

yup if you care go to werner //Werner cares smh if i was you i would just pick any of them stay for 6 months and get a local job if you want hometime also it would be easier if you move to cities like jacksonville, orlando, miami, west palm beach, tampa, winter haven these are where you can find a local job easy, good luck.

I am with Werner and I am happy with them... I am on a dedicated account and I do get home every weekend. ?. However, I also live in Omaha NE.. which wojld make it easier for any company to get me home regularly...
I see alot of Schneider trucks out on the road so they do seem to keep their drivers moving...
If I were not happy with werner I would go to Schneider... they offer a lot of options.. van, flatbed, tanker.... -
Hello everyone I must say that I really and sincerely appreciate everyone pros and cons about these companies. I must also say that this is a great forum and also helpful as well. As for me I'm planning to move to Orlando which is a major city ( near the city of Nona) hope there's a lot more home time. I got my CDL here in NYC about 2 years ago and I only have a month experience back in Nov 2012 with Stevens ttransport, had a family emergency and haven't been back driving since. I choose Florida because its more lay back family oriented for my wife and a good place to start a family. I love the trucks and I just want to be a trucker get some experience and hope as soon to get a local job. But when I do choose I hope I choose right to start. With Werner they said they'll put me on as a co driver and I have to do 275 hours, with Schneider I have to go back to a school to do a 40 hour refresher course.. So is there anyone in here that can really and truly sincerely lead me in the right path? I would really appreciate your help. And I know every company have there pros cons... THANKS

My concern with SNI over Werner is the lenght of training...will I be where I need to be when the rubber hits the road? My concern with Werner over SNI is will I learn all I need to learn during the lengthy time spent team driving? One is short and detailed the other long and arduous but I have heard of gaps in the knowledge offered due to the pushing of freight.
I like the idea of doing weeks (Werner) of driving with an experienced person to access in case there is a question or situation. I am not sure I will enjoy the shared sleeping arrangements and possible personality conflicts that are hard to imagine not arising. I am an adult, they are an adult...alpha v alpha.
I like the way SNI presents their training as a very close one on one with a TE sitting next to you working with you. Is this more focused? I can't say and anyone who can most likely hasn't gone through Werner training to offer an objective comparison.
I would love to have someone point me in the right direction but I have learned my path is my path and I am the only one who knows which path to take and even then I have picked the wrong one...or so it appeared at the time.
Good luck, at least you know you are not in this boat alone...

Though Schneider does have many options, I do not believe they have a flatbed division...At least that's what I was told by a representative of the company.
Chinatown Thanks this.
