no more skid pads at Schneider. Too much money. Simulators now. I alos run on the Transplace acct out of Obetz. Can't complain other than not getting any loads down south. primarily running from Pa to Chicago through Ohio and Indianna. my very first load went to Memphis Tenn but havent been back since.

I just passed my SQT skills qualification test in my third week at the Dallas OC with Schneider, today. My suggestion is to make sure you know how to shift before coming to Schneider. I've seen a lot of students get held back for their second and third week when they can't shift properly. It's a downhill spiral that affects your awareness and safety. They just wont give you a truck if you can't shift. Some people come in thinking they can slide by like they did at Roadmaster's or where-ever you went to school at. It isn't like that here. They will train you the 'Schneider Way', which includes double-down or 'Bump-n-Slide' as they call it. Schneider trainers want you to be able to skip gears before you go out on your own- they actually prefer that you do skip gears upshifting (2nd-4th-6th), and you need to know Gear Recovery like the back of your hand. If you aren't ready, then I hope you have the discipline to study at the motel instead of watching tv all night. I'm a fast learner, but it wasn't easy for me. I can see that it's difficult for most people, no matter their age. They wont let you float the gears, and you're gonna be in a big freightliner with a Training Engineer watching specifically to see if you are faking your clutch use. There's no two way's about it. There's just the 'Schneider Way'.
On a lighter note, it is very rewarding, and I feel an unexpected pride at completing the training. I can't wait to get behind the wheel. OTR for me, Dallas! Good Luck!!

Ken. How do you like that account? I talked to a driver at a loves who was on it, just trying to get as much input on that account as possible before I decide if I want to switch to it.

Ran a wal-mart dedicated with sni. You do know its 90% night driving right? you would be surprised at the number of drivers that showed up and were "surprised" that was the case as I was told by the recruiter, my immediate boss at the account several times and the terminal manager more than once before I took the job.
