    Hello,

I'm thinking about applying to Schneider... I'm wondering what they monitor at the prescreen? Do they just check blood pressure at beginning of exercises/prescreen course, and as long as your under the 140, and as long as you finish do you pass? Or do they monitor heart rate throughout? If they do monitor heart rate it does not show on video.. What is the heart rate limit throughout exercises? Any, and all info regarding prescreen please...

    Thanks

Go to the trucking DAC reports under Schneider and all that info is there. It should be that they check your BP when you first begin then your heart rate after each exercise. I believe the formula for your heart rate is (220 - your age) x .90 = target heart rate.

The video is a condensed version of each exercise to give you an idea of what to expect. If you remember, it states that the process will take about 30 minutes. The video was not 30 minutes. Sorry if this post comes off a bit abrupt, but I am just posting matter of fact.

hey it's cool man! I'm just glad someone responded! I figured it would be like the others, but just wanted to make sure! Thanks so much! Do people really typically reach the maximum heart rate? I've done alot of exercises, and never came close to my maximum of 172 on my pulse..

they do hair drug test as well as urinalysis. So, you need to make sure you have long enough hair for a sample.

Sorry wasn't on lately. Well first of all they have a video that shows the exercises. Go to Schneider's web site then to training and safety and you can download it. Basically when you go for orientation on Sunday they do the prescreen. It consists of you getting weighed and measured for height (hope yours can read mine said I was 5'7"....I'm only 5'4".) Anyway then they take your BP. It has to be under 140/90. Then you first do the 12" step for 1 minute then check your heart rate. That can't be over your targert heart rate. Then there's carrying weight, lifting weight, pulling 100#, pushing 80#, squatting, getting under a simulated trailer, then stepping up on a simulated ICC bar and kneeling onto a table. After each test they measure your heart rate. Can get kick out on any one of the exercises. As soon as your heart rate goes up too far you are out and have to wait 6 months to reapply. Hope this helps.

    Gypsy,
Thanks for all of the information! When you say they check your heart rate, and your heart rate cannot be over .... amount.. Do you mean pulse? I calculated mine, and it says my heart rate cannot be over 172... Do they use the same calculation as Roehl? 220-age x 0.9? Do you know how often people do go above the target heart rate? Or close to it?

That would be kind of hard for me, since I've been scraping my skull since 2003. Does eyebrow hair count?
