Gunner first thing is your a new driver and more than likely who ever you pick it going to tell you that your going to an otr (over the road) driver which means until your done training you will have to go were ever they tell you to go. Your expectations on the money are correct you will probrably be somewhere in the neiborhood of about $1500 before taxes plus having to buy your food on the road. You can make alot more once you get through the training period and keep you nose clean with your liecense. Dont get discouraged though you made it this far things will work them selfs out. ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE MAKING ANY DECISIONS ON ANY OF THOSE COMPANIES YOU MENTIONED. WRITE YOUR QUESTIONS DONE BEFORE YOU CALL AND BEWARE THEY WILL ALL PROMISE YOU THE WORLD BUT NOT ONE OF THEM WILL PUT IT IN WRITING. JUST SAYING. Good luck

I suggest Werner Enterprises, even though it's not one of your choices, but Werner is a good training company, they have nice equipment and they take care of their trucks. And surely you'll make $500/week. And living in CA, they have several dedicated accounts, where you can be home daily or every weekend.

Do they have accounts that run around the Los Angeles/ Ventura areas? Where could I find that information?

Yes they do, could get on a Target or OfficeMax Dedicated Account, or go for Day Cab, be home everyday and off on the weekends. They have a Terminal in Fontana, CA.

I'm at the cdl dmv now and will test out today.
as a newb, you really dont have much choices.. you will have to decide for yourself coz all entry companies sound good by their recruiters.. all blogs will say good and bad things about those companies.. ask drivers and decide whats best for you.
i decided i want to attend orientation out of fontana with schneider and not wanting to greyhound to Missouri with conway. pay my dues with schneider fir a year and look for other options as i gain experience. Schneider regional is not bad for me coz i want to stay on the westcoast and stay clear away from northeast areas. good luck to u. also schneider military apprenticeship will help my first year financially.

schneider and conway both have the military apprenticeship program so that should help out financially the first year.. the VA pays you about 1k monthly for your first six month and the second six month should be around $890 month.
