I'm looking at joining the tanker fleet with Schneider. Can anyone tell me if they force you to drive at night? My body tells me it's time to sleep at night, so that's not a good mix. :) Do you get out west often? I know most of the freight is east of the Miss, but I'd like to at least get out west occasionally, if possible. Do you have to get in as tight of spots with a tanker, or is it easier than pulling a van?

Dude if you seriously cant handle driving at night just do something else. Seriously, trucking is not for you. You need to be tough if you want to be a truck driver.

I've been driving a truck for over a year now, and I'm doing just fine. Thank u for your opinion.

Well, they are big on service so if your load needs to be driven at night then they would expect that you do just that. If you say you're tired no one will ever force you to drive but I wouldn't count on making much money because you will develop a reputation as a picky driver. Not trying to be insulting just telling it like it is.

I didn't get out West very often in my 3 years with them, it does happen but the vast majority of freight is north and east.

In my opinion tankers are easier to pull and while there are tight spots out there they are far fewer than what van has to deal with. But some tank washes are ridiculous. Tanker work is much involved. For me, I doubt I ever pull anything but a tank again, I love it. Schneider Bulk is a great place to get your experience up, I think you will be satisfied.

Thanks, Ethos. You helped me a lot. If I get on with them, I'd like to stay for a year and a half or 2 years and then go owner op and do their choice program. Is Jersey still a tight place, even for tankers? And I assume the tanks are 53'?

Going west isn't a huge deal, but I'd like to go out there occasionally.

Oh, ok. That should make it easier then. Well, haven't been out west and would like to occasionally.
