Was just called by my Comcar (CTL) recruiter that I have been in contact with and they have a position open they want me to fill.

Now I am torn between Schneider Tanker and CTL.

Schneider starts at .33 cpm for the first 6 months, then goes to .39 cpm loaded and empty. No APUs. Freightliners. E-Logs
CTL starts at .30cpm for first 6 months, then goes to .42 loaded/ .37 cpm empty. Has APUs. Mack Trucks/ Automatics. Paper logs (Loved Paper Logs in School) ;-)

What to do, what to do....Still waiting for my Hazmat to get back.

I'm very thrilled thou to get my start in trucking via a Tanker. Love it! :)

If you like Orange go with Schn Bulk, if not go with CTL. :biggrin_25525: Seriously, congratulations! I'm striving to be where you are in under 2 months. Not in the quandry you're in, mind you, but ready to run tanker!

    Thanks.
The Ultra Auto Shifts (No Clutch Pedal) will be fun to try out. Heard of them in school, never tried one. heh

But down the road what if I decide to move to a different company that has all Manual? I would probably prefer to start with a manual. I will inquire. :)

Now there's a point I didn't consider when I answered, Sillen! I hate automatics! I'm 50 and have only owned one in my life. I truly believe this one issue would be the deciding factor for me! I'd go Schneider, for sure!

If you go with the Auto Shift to start out though, certainly if you change companies and have to drive a manual, it'll come back to you quickly, I would think.

Well I love auto trucks and might possibly kill for one.
Now on to the point. I have run both paper and elogs. I prefer paper. Apu or not wouldnt matter to me because you can idle with Schneider. Mack or Freightshaker, whatever floats your boat.
Now would I leave Schneider for them, no. Because I know that Schneider works for me and that is something that can't always be put down on paper. It is also something you don't know until you make the decision. So pick which one your gut tells you. Good luck.

Clay Hyder Truck Lines (CHTL): I worked for them back in the 90's. They use to be a Comcar company. I also lived in Florida up until 2009 and Comcar runs that state. So I also know a lot of drivers some still work there. May opinion and you can with it what you like, is that Comcar is the worse in my book.

I was working in OTR when I rolled into the weight station on I-75 just South of Chattanooga when I noticed about 10 other CHTL truck all parked in the lot. When I pulled on the scale the DOT officer told park my truck and bring all my paperwork inside. When I parked the other drivers told me run into the woods. I was like LOL what the heck you talking about? They said there was no time to explain just run now! I didn't run I went into the weight station office. Well I wished I had run, cause CHTL had trucking authority revoked, their IFTA suspended, and they closed their doors and went out of business therefore making the plates on the truck cancelled be the state of FL.

I received $1,800.00 worth of tickets, 4 points on my license, and was left stranded 700 miles from home. Those tickets stayed on my driving record for 10 years and last time I changed companies DAC still showed it, but that's a whole other story.

You should go to the company with Elogs. If you learn how to run under elogs effectively now it will help you in the long run.

How could you get tickets for your Company having their Authority revoked, and closing their doors if you didn't know about it? What about When Arrow went out of Business and left their guys stranded all over the USA. I didn't hear anything about their guys getting shafted like that. That is a total screw job in more ways that one. Did that DOT Officer also charge you for having the truck towed off of His scale? What a Jerk! You find out your company is gone, You don't have a job anymore and are now stranded,,,,,,and He gives you tickets and tarnishes your driving record.........Man, I'm sorry you had to deal with!
