What is the avg. hrs a day you drive, and how many loads and unloads do you do a week?

I was a tanker driver at schneider and switched between all 3 (regional/otr/local)

If you are regional and OTR, you are going to average 10 hours drive time a day, with 1 hour as a safety net.

If you drive local, you will never drive that many hours, BUT you will max out your 14 hour clock. When I drove local, I started 4am and finished around 4-6pm.

Loads for local, averaged 2 a day.($100 load average). Regional/OTR 2-3 loads a week. Unless you are doing canada loads or coast to coast, then its just 1 load a week

well for those who know my drama... the hot shot hazmat job refused to pay me what they pay the men and refused to let me be a wireline operator and the jobs i apply for since either flat say no or dont call... I use to work in oil and gas before the bust and nothing i did could make me an engineer even with a degree in physics and great excel and analytic skills... women are not in oil and gas for a reason sadly
so I have decided not to waste my cdl and hazmat tanker endorsement and give schneider a second chance at me... i put in for otr tanker with them...I am sure they will take me since they keep sending me emails, calls, letters.
will let you all know how it goes as best I can ... probably have to train since never driven tanker
will make my own thread though :D I know this is someone elses soapbox so I will get off now

The vast majority of the Women I ve seen in the oilfield were working in the conrol rooms of the rigs. Seen a few drivers here and there. Not many hotshots. I would be nervous having a Women solo in the midland/odessa area. I have seen ALOT of guys that I would never trust to be alone with a Woman. and those POS seem to congregate together. That and that attitude of what happens in the patch, stays in the patch. You'll like tankers. The training you'll get at Schneider is good. They suck as a company, so just focus on your training, get your year in and try Superior or some of the others. THeres alot of vairation in how different tankers companies operate and what and how they haul. So if you find yourself getting frustrated by Schneider, just focus on the big picture and all the doors that will open when you get more experience.
I have 13 years experience. Ive hauled everything but flatbed, and oversize. Ive put in the time and built my resume. I start my new job in a few week, hauling milk. home everyday, Sunday through Thursday. start anywhere from 12am to 6am and go 10-14 hours, my choice. I get a 4 month old daycab Kenworth glider truck, that will be traded in when it hits 4 years old and after that time the owner will buy me whatever truck I want, whatever color I want. Starting pay is 110 per load so 220. we are in the process of getting rid of all of our tankers and getting 4 axle heavy haul trailers and our pay is going up to 160 per load, so 320 a day. So a potential $1600 5 day work week just to haul milk with a company that shakes hands with the biggest milk plant and milk co-op in the US.

The only reason I got in was because of my resume. I kept my nose clean, no tickets and no accidents. I documented every single job move, stayed at every job at least a year, and the employer could see that each move was strategic to either protect my license from a bad carrier or to learn new skills. I went in and told him how much of an asset I would be. Now I believe that this is the company that I will retire from. Tankers, in my, opinion are the best! The customers are the best! The work is the best! the variety is the best! The challenges can be difficult, scary, and dangerous. But the rewards are worth it. I hate Over the road, but I loved it when I hauled a tank. Look towards the future and welcome the journey in front of you. Its going to be amazing ride
