Hey Mictrucking, do you already have a CDL or is it something you'd like to do?

Hey Moving Forward, no I don't have my CDL yet. I'm currently researching schools and companies in my area.

Well, I would encourage you to research as many options as possible. You'll find a TON of information about this very topic right here on TTR, but you might also want to talk with the people down at your local state employment office as there might be some specific programs that you could apply to... and some financial assistance is usually a good thing but be careful if there are any strings attached to the offers.

Good luck with the adventure you're climbing aboard.

Thanks for the great advice Moving Forward! At the moment I'm going through the process to see if I qualify for assistance through a state program. Your right, this site has a lot of good information it's great. So glad to have this site and people like yourself for help, it's a great resource. So far I'm thinking of going with either Dootson Trucking School or Raodmasters School, and see if I can get hired on with Schneider. Thanks again for your help!

I did the same thing. Got my CDL, went right onto a dedicated account for Schneider. It made it easy for me, as a new driver, to learn the basics in a somewhat controlled environment. It takes away some of the anxiety while you work on getting your sea legs, as it were.

Awesome, thanks Sipesh! I was thinking dedicated too. Do you work out of Scneiders Fontana facility? That is location I would be working from if hired.

I'm actually out of Denver. I've been here for 3 years now, the last 2.5 as an IC on this account.

Schneider never had a problem selling those orange trucks. Half the fly by night fleets out of California run old pumpkins.

TankerP, ajohnson and Mictrucking Thank this.
