In theory, your idea is great, but, your scenario isn't like cross-examining a witness in court (question/answer, question/answer). Just for kix, call a few recruiters, and try it your way. If they took 10-15 minutes per new-hire to answer questions, when could they find time to do anything else ?

I have 3 companies I've found that I may be interested in and hopefully will be able to set up an appointment with each of them to discuss my questions and their companies

You know, I may not - I may find it to be exactly as you all are describing -unfortunately, the way I approach things is through research and first hand knowledge.
I certainly take into account the advise of everyone here as well as listen to recommendations from others - I have a few friends who are truckers as well.
All in all I may be wearing rose colored glasses and will come to find this is not the industry for me in which to make a new career - who knows - but I have to find out, throw things against the wall and see what sticks
What ever I do decide or discover everyone's responses are greatly appreciated and I am very grateful for them - experience is by far a better teacher than a book every time!sevenmph Thanks this.
