....and need to vent...Because of the size of the class they have put off starting class form this Monday to next Monday and if they can't fill seats by then, it'll get put off again! :biggrin_25510:

I believe I have a company that will hire me and their orientation starts right after the original date of completion, now I have to put that off as well...This sucks!...Hopefully they have an orientation class that starts a week later as well...Vent over, I feel a little better now, but not much as with a little more notice I could have switched to another school that also starts this coming Monday but being Friday, they're closed as they only operate M-Th... :biggrin_2556:

I guess this could be same as waiting for a load or a truck even so I may as well get used to it huh?...

UPDATE: The companies seem to have an orientation starting each week so no long delays created there, thankfully...

I feel your pain, mine got pushed back another three weeks. Beginning to wonder if I'll ever work again. LOL

yes, this does stink, suck, whatever. but they need a certain amount of students per instructor ratio, or instructors just do not get to work, and are told to stay home..........and that stinks, sucks as well.......

i might add, try not to anticipate graduation and any job you go to by any time line. things happen and as you are a a witness, they do.

like Murphy's Law, "anything that can go wrong, WILL go wrong".

it would be better to "set up" any orientation during your 2 final weeks of school 3 tops..........not from day 1...........

the chances of that particular company hiring you would be less now due to others going to work there. and i might add, that the trucking company can have problems as well.........and they have to turn away students.

so count your blessings, but do not "over-anticipate" circumstances you cannot control.

My bigger concern is if they don't get enough bodies by next week, then we get put off another week...The WIA will only cover 2 school in this area, this one and one at the college...I am going to spend next week getting that one lined up as a backup in case this one can't get enough people in class...Personally I'd love a class with only 2 people in it for the amount of truck time and individual attention but 4 isn't bad which is all I saw in their last class...

personally i do not know how that WIA stuff works.......i let the office people fart around with that...........but i'll have to "wonder" if you can try another school, i mean everything is all set up now as it is. let me relate something, which might NOT apply to you.

we had a student, an older guy. he was having the toughest time possible backing up. after 3 weeks, he wanted to quit. he said he was going to go back to the WIA, and try something else..........we already knew that answer and told him, "you chose this, and its all they are going to pay for, you had ONE chance, that's all you get"............

he stayed in school.............and got his CDL...........

now of course, you are NOT going from trucking to plumbing........but yet, you are wanting to "set up" another school...........there may be even MOORE delays doing this, but maybe not...........who knows.........??

i say stick with it, you're committed (not in the insane way, but maybe so?) since you want to drive a truck...........one HAS to be insane........dun't ya thunk.........????
PS, i would just call that WIA and ask them first before you go ask the other school any questions

I think I've just been letting my desire to get this moving override my better thinking...I'll give them another week but after that I will have to check with WIA then the other school...If this place can't draw students and I have options, I think it would only be prudent to explore them...It's strange how they tell me this RIGHT after they got the check from WIA this week, they may have known this for weeks and I had the option early this week to choose the other school...

If they can't produce students and a class, I "may" have something to hang hat on...I'll talk to WIA before I do anything only if they put me off another week...I don't want to ruffle feathers at the school until I'm sure...

    They are paid in full!

    whoa...........paid in full............??

believe it or not, NOT IN MY STATE.............!!

we get paid, when the state (seemingly) wants to. this i got from the gal in my office that handles the WIA..........

i don't see the school giving back any money, and probably by agreements/rules, the school CAN delay classes............

    oh well.............

The school I'm dealing with said if the start date changed that would mean having to do more paper work. Basically the same paper work with a new start date. I'm in Michigan so it might be different in KY.
