it may be tough. just being honest here but health may be your biggest issue I'm in the same boat as you they don't like us older folks who need meds.
-
Something came to mind while reading your post- truck dealerships hire older drivers to deliver trucks for them. Tractors need work or modifications at another shop or the factory once in awhile, sometimes a customer needs a truck just out of the shop delivered to them. Some dealerships have other shops that need tractors shuttled back and forth to. Anyway, I've never done the work- but I keep meeting drivers who do it. And you might find insurance in the deal if you're lucky.
Hope it helps. -
Start by getting a CDL medical card. I'm thinking that you won't be able to. I base that on:
1. Need cataract surgery
2. Minor stroke, on medication
3. History of mental illness
Even if the cataract problem is resolved, I just can't see where any company (or motor company insurer) would take you with items 2 and 3. -
Mental health issues? Minor stroke? Bad knee? Bad eyes? 60 yrs old? Ain't gonna' happen.

Not likely IMO.
As stated even with the eye surgery on medication for a stroke and whatever drugs they have you on for other reasons your probably a high risk to invest time in.
Now a school will bring you in and train you. But unless they are giving you the job afterwards ( not job placement but a job) I do not see to many companies hiring you. -
Bummer - will have to keep racing my go-kart until I get a job.

What are you racing? I raced "animal" class on a road course. Starting out I was wishing I could afford "unlimited" and run 130 MPH. After just one race I realized 80 MPH was a good place to start. -
BigJohn54 Thanks this.
