With certain divisions maybe. I know here in Marion, IN you can run solo on there Dollar General account. But you have to apply directly to the Marion DC. If you fill out a app for US corporate they want you to run team.

It depends on where you live. Here in GA, I wouldn't have to team.

Please explain the economic reasoning behind this? Not so much the cheap wages while training, but why the firing when you get to be OTR?

You know what the biggest problem with the "bottom feeders" is? It's not the company, it's the clowns they hire. The clowns who come out of truck driving school and think they are truck drivers, when in reality they wouldn't make a pimple on a real truck driver's ###.

Not everyone who drives for Werner is a horrible driver or a knuckle dragging half wit. Some people just need to start somewhere, get a year of experience and then they're off to some place better. Werner provides that opportunity to drive for a big company, get some experience and then if you have your eyes on another company that seems like a better deal, turn in your truck and move on to someone else.

Granted some people drive for Werner as a last resort if they can't get hired on with anyone else. Others consider Werner a starting point in their career. Same with Swift, I would imagine.

Supreme guy I cant remember what school your at but if your at Charlotte Truck Driver Training school and this instructor is Bobby....Dont listen to him.

    A few things about bobby,

    1. he's a great old guy but WAY out of touch in relality
    2. He was talking to a prime recruiter on behalf of a student about a lease program and told the student it was a GOOD idea! :biggrin_25513:
    3. In his mind its still the old days, when you could make a ton of money easily in trucking....He'll tell you all kinds of storys about how he started out broke and started trucking then bought a house and a car and all this stuff...ask him how much he paid for that house! I'll give ya a hint it was less then $50,000 so that'll give you an idea of how far in the past he's living....
