Remember these mufflers? Going through Atlanta on the bypass, one of these fell off a car in front of me. The muffler bounced high and took off the passenger side mirror. Called it in and the shop refused to give me permission to get the mirror replaced. I had enough fuel to make it back to the terminal, so I drove back to Nashville and stayed in the right lane the whole time.
The shop guy is a real jerk and has never liked me at all for some unknown reason.
He looked at the truck and said he sees some red paint on the right side of the truck and on what was left of the mirror bracket. He said, "You probably put that paint on there yourself, trying cover for hitting something."
I opened the passenger door and took the muffler out and handed it to him. It was scuffed up a bit, but looked brand new. Probably wasn't installed correctly on the car that lost it.
After that, an aluminum ladder fell off a flatbed in front of me. Traffic was running about 70 mph. The ladder damaged the bumper of my truck.
Again, he called me a liar and accused me of hitting something in a parking lot or truck stop.
I had to meet with the terminal manager about the muffler and the ladder. He said there's no way an aluminum ladder can cause damage to a bumper.
Anyway, after that, I never report anything. I could have been fired and had 2 incidents on my DAC. Never again.

I do agree with you on this one, kind of like breaking up with a gal and rarely gets back together, but on my recent car trip, I passed a LOT of trucks, company units mostly, and practically every one had a damaged panel, a bumper duct taped, remember those tail things behind the doors, now in shreds, bottom skirts damaged,, my point is, companies may never see a truck for months and it's just the cost of doing business today.
Lying,,that's a good one, what exactly IS a lie. Grandma used to say, " a lie well stuck to is better than the truth sometimes". I was taught to tell the truth, no matter how embarrassing it may be. Not this "going to hell" crap, just honesty should be the best policy. Now, if a tree falls in the forest and nobody hears it, does it make any noise? Same here. If a driver ran over something 3 months ago, and the truck hasn't been affected too much, what's the harm? Everybody lies at some time, and if they say they never have, that's a lie. It's the cameras today that are the real tattle tales.
