This is a weird setup trying to get a preloaded trailer. For some reason, they left the trailer cranked to high so they my 5th Wheel can't couple to the Kingpin. So.... normally I would just be annoyed and get it cranked down, but they also left another trailer so close to mine it's almost touching. I crawl under there trying to turn it and the handle bumps into the other trailer. Tried raising airbags lol and it doesn't even come close.
I dunno. I complained to the guard and he said overnight yard spotters show up in about an hour. I also emailed pics to my overnight dispatcher so they can see what's up.
I can sort of understand the trailers being close because this place is always over full with trailers, but what's up with the over cranked trailers? Do spotters get pissed at certain companies?
What sucks is I'm tight on my 70, but was close to being able to deliver this. Now I'll have to relay it.
Screwed by bad yard spotter?

Not everyone's tractor is spec'd the same as the next person's.
Some have tall rubber, some have higher or lower fifth wheels than others.
What you could've done was to innovate.
You could've found some wood, laid it on the ground under the trailer and backed your drives on it to raise your tractor higher so you could hook to the kingpin........or you could just wait for the yard driver to come in.MartinFromBC, crb, FireLotus and 4 others Thank this. -
If you can't get it out you will have to wait for a yard dog to pull it out for you.
Make sure to ask him to let you adjust the landing gear before he drops it.
And I don't know why, but ever since I've been in my new truck nearly every trailer is too high.Bean Jr. Thanks this. -
I'm not sure how having to wait 1 hour on off duty for the yard dog to show up will affect your 70?

Cant you hook up to the other trailer and move it out of the way and then go hook to yours and boogie?
MartinFromBC, Thull, KillingTime and 6 others Thank this. -
Cray cray... I wouldn't move that trailer... Definitely waiting on hostler for this...
Trailers that are too low or high can be cranked. I love the drive up on the wood to lift... thanks for sharing. -
At least you didn't high hook it... good job looking out, OP.

Next time if you have room to turn your trailers handle you can back up off center so the pin of the hi dropped trailer slides up on the side of the slot on your 5th wheel plate and trys to compress the air bags wait till you stop hearing air going into airbags and pull out an back right under hi trailer set brake and crank down landing handle while air is still holding up weight off legs, works most every time?

Waited for the overnight spotter. Told my company about and said I wasn't sure if I should be moving another company's trailer.
