J&R Schugel said no. I am doing a company calling blitz tomorrow. I found out the main issue companies are having is that at-fault accident was a rear-end DOT-recordable accident and I haven't driven since the accident. Companies are saying they require 6 months driving after a rear-end accident before they will hire you. I don't understand that really. I have court documents to show the ticket I received was dismissed and the other party when they tried to sue myself and Crete for damages the judge basically told them to go pound sand because they contributed to the accident. Unfortunately that doesn't change the accident report that says nothing about that, only that I rear-ended them. An at fault is an at fault and it's not like my 10 years experience went away... but I digress. I don't want to focus on the negative.

I would really prefer to not even get my Hazmat. I don't care to drive it or get any penalties doubled if something were to happen simply because I'm hauling hazmat. I believe Empire requires it. If it REALLY comes down to it I suppose I will. I have already completed the background portion of it.

Raven doesn't have a terminal around here and when I spoke to them very briefly the girl sounded like dispatch would improvise where I leave the truck when I go home but the other side of that means my car would be sitting who knows where when I'm on the road. I remember when I drove for Watkins Shepard years ago I would have to drive my car 95 miles one way when I would come home. It wasn't too bad but at least I had a secure place to park my car.

The companies I see suggested so far are these. I'll talk to them tomorrow with the exception of Jones Trucking. I know those people personally and I don't really want to work for them.

    Empire
    Raven
    USA Truck
    Schneider
    Navajo
    Jones Transportation
    Robbie D. Wood
    RBI

Please list any companies you can think of given this new information. Thank you!

How do you find secure parking? I have a few companies that look like they're going to give me an offer but so far most do not have a terminal or drop yard near me. I do not have someone that can pick me up or drop me off. I need to find a place that has a secured area I could leave my car when I leave as well as park the truck & trailer when I come home. There's no way I would leave my car at a truck stop even I had permission to.

    Ideas?

Ruan Transport. They require 9 months of experience...check; no more than one DOT recordable accident in the last three years...check; terminal in Jefferson, GA...check.

Venture Express has an hourly, home daily position out of Opelika, AL. That's just short of 1-1/2 hours from Atlanta.
