I had a case of Lone Star beer in the trailer i picked up for the boss one time.
I was fined 1200 bucks by the TN DOT for not having a bill of lading for the beer.
They took the beer and the fine had to be paid on the spot or i was going to jail....NEVER again will i try that!

At least the boss had to pay me back because he asked me to pick it up...:biggrin_25523:

Why not just buy it at home?

No idea. Maybe wants to buy a commemorative bottle like we sell here. Maybe a custom order not available at home. I was just saying he did not want to open it, just transport it.

If it something you cant get at home and you are a company driver call your compliance officer explain it to him/her. Who know they might be a collector and understand tell you to get put in in a box put it in the trailer and write out a bill for it. I doubt the will look down on you if anything they will respect you for calling and asking rather than going ahead and doing it. And if you are a Independent Operator and permitted for it you can just do it. But just to do it from facts on here even if a DOT do let you off the hook you still might be jobless if your company find out

I'm guessing you mean that using the personal conveyance interpretation that allows you to be off-duty, yet driving? That doesn't exempt you from any of the rest of the FMCSRs, and you could still be placed OOS for having alcohol. Don't know if you could continue under 'personal use' once you're OOS. That's a question for DB or one of the other LEOs on here.

A driver can carry alcohol in a CMV if they are using it as a personal conveyance while off-duty.

If a driver has been placed OOS then they cannot operate a CMV until the OOS order has expired.
