Just curious about when freight slows down and when it picks back up. And just how much does it slow down (percentage-wise)?![]()

Traditionally, it slows down from Thanksgiving thru January. Reasons being Holidays, inventory adjustments, tax time etc. But some businesses do well at any time.

If things don't pick up by mid January,, then worry.

My mentor has said that things will be slow through February.

My hubby hasn't slowed down yet. Frankly, I'd be grateful for a slowdown... not too much of one, but I'd like to sleep in the same county sometimes....

it depends on what part of the industry your in. With containers, our busy time is late July til late Jan., early Feb. can be busy, late feb. and first week of March is slow due to Chinese New year. Seasonal slow down is usually late March til mid. May sometimes into June. Every year it's different though.

And it totally depends on what you haul. Reefer freight slows a bit after the holidays but starts to pick up again in Feb-March. Every year is different. As long as you have a good freight base and a good dispatcher you should stay busy enough

This is the first year in many moons that I've been bust right thru the holidays... but I'm hauling bulk chip potatoes and they sell lots during the holidays...
