I never hauled wheels but Ive done axles. We blocked and chained them down with old conveyor material top and bottom in the covered wagon. Did not haul too many of them but enough to make a decent load going to a major railroad wheel shop that needs them.

Even though these are large metal items, we handled these carefully because railroads operate with approximately a inch or so of precision wheel across to wheel to both rails. Cannot risk any damage.

I hauled them things back in late 80's to early 90's. My truck (87 K100 with 8 bag) was setup with a dump valve for the tractor and the trailer (48x102 spread on air). Loading we dump the tractor bags to help take the incline out of the trailer. Unloading we dumped the bags on the trailer, allowed the wheels to self feed to the rear for the forklift to unload. Of course this as on level ground lol. Always used a binder handle to help steer / straighten each set as I loaded it. 2 guys, myself and forklift operator, but I was a lot younger and full of vinegar then too lol.

Turns out I’m just getting axles no wheels. I appreciate the help. From the comments on here to talking to a few drivers unloading. I think I’ve got it figured out if I do need to haul them.
