I'm new to the business and was wondering what different ways everyone uses to secure their trailer, whether you are leaving your entire rig at truckstop to take a cap to a movie or unhooking and bobtailing someplace? Thanks in advance for the info.

Have the Off Duty Relieved of all Responsibility Card issued by your company in your wallet.
Go forth and enjoy your movie. If your rig burns out or whatever, the Company can deal with that too afterall, you ARE off duty and relieved of all responsibilityFlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
Glad hand lock and kingpin lock . make sure the truckstop not gonna tow ur trailer away before u drop it. If i was parkinf my truck at a truck stop for the weekend. I would find a nose in spot. If somebodys gonna take my bumper off id rather the trailer get hit rsther than my truck . cuz u know them chicken ####s is not gonna stick around

It was a rare deal that I left a loaded trailer anywhere, and I pulled open deck, it would have been hard to secure the load anyway. lol
I have left an empty at a truckstop a few times, not often, but I never went to any great pains to secure it, other than get permission from the truck stop manager.
Running my own authority I set weekends a lot, and like tibbit, if I knew I was going to be there a while I nosed in, both to keep my nose, and it is quieter than listening to everybody run their engines.x1Heavy, FlaSwampRat and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
Throw a tailchain around the kingpin with a padlock

If I'm at a truckstop and taking a cab, I lock the doors and park close to an overhead light.
