Ignorance (see definition) from others doesn't really bother me too much. There seems to be an enough of it to go around, but you're calling someone out that clearly you don't know. If Native lays it out there, you can bet on it. He's been in the game since before you were an itch in your Daddy's pants, so maybe you oughta just stick to your "reading" of Urban BS and leave the real-worlder's alone.

Stun Gun...Not so good as you have to be in contact with the bad guy and for more than a split second.

Taser....You can hit the bad guy from a distance or use as stun gun if you miss. Is non-lethal but will drop the person quick. Not sure of the legal ramifications of tasering someone.

Gun...is the ultimate lethal solution but has SERIOUS legal ramifications for you whether you kill or wound the person.

I'd go with the TASER C2.

The dog sounds like a good idea to me. Know this though most dogs are easily befriended with a package of lunchmeat. Most criminals know this. From the mouth of the state police detective who was investigating my home being broken into. My dog apparently was willing to sell me out for bologna.

My father drove a 79 Pete with metal door-handles and had a ratchet strap he would connect between them. It seemed to work.

As far as lethal force goes, IIRC, you would need a permit for each state you go through. I can't imagine the red tape involved with this.

Nope...there is a thing called "reciprocity" between most states. My Tennessee handgun permit is valid in 32 states. Most of the other states have "Peaceable Journey" laws (that means you can have the firearm with you...locked in a case separate from the ammo)

Only the uptight communist states (CA, NY, NJ, WI, IL) will cause you any major problems...and I see IL dropping off that list soon, the residents there are fighting hard to get CCW legalized.

Good to know, and thank you, kind sir. Do you know of a comprehensive list of which states' permits are compatible?

Go to the states Attorney Generals website and google "reciprocity"...that works in most cases (it does for Tennessee)

Also...there are websites dedicated to this, but I prefer the states attorney generals office. Their info is ALWAYS up to date and useable in a court of law. (and its handy on the side of the road...hard for an officer to argue with it staring him in the face)

Correction...mine is valid in 34 states (the list keeps growing)
