    Hey ladies and Gents,

My cousin is a Mexican truck driver in Mexico. He tells me that the economic crisis is creating a large spike in truck robberies. My question is this, do you know of any great tech product that can help minimize robberies by either a.) dettering bandits or b.) if the load is stolen, any tech products that can help you recover the goods and catch the bandits. I promised i'd look into it for him. The guy got held up and beaten pretty bad and he doesn't want that to happen again.

    all the best,

    james

A lot of trailers have tracking devices built in. And a lot of drivers have ways of "changing the odds" of being robbed.
    Use your imagination.

We have lots of great technology.

Unfortunately it's ALL illegal in Mexico. So it would really be a waste of time, to even mention a short list.

you can pull the ecm fuse i think its called, that way the truck wont be able to start at all it will just sit and turn over. They have glad hand locks and king pin locks for the trailers. Also they have a device that will lock over the air brake valve in the truck runs about 60 bucks for an all metal one. But if someone really wants to steal the truck they will no matter what you have done.

This is why none of use want to go down there to drive. The roads suck and getting robbed is a matter of WHEN not IF.

i dont no about anyone else here, but i smell something funny about this thread....I'm not sure what it is, but i cant see someone asking a question like that from Americans. i get the jiff of this as someone who is looking to rob trailers, and they are looking into how we protect our freight, and use the information we give them to use against us.
this coming from someone who lives in highest theft area of the country. i see it all the time in Philadelphia.
id be a lil careful as to the answers that are giving out on this one.
    if this is real.
this is what i would do....let the company your " cousin " works for worry about it.
