1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

And a good driver with a proven safety and attendance record is worth every penny. It's an industry accepted standard the it will cost in excess of 5k to get a driver to production speed. More for specialized like tank and heavy haul.

$22 is good yes but your prospects are checked by 4 days and weekends off. It's not about the hrly rate or mileage, it's the check. I commonly refer to this as the "Walmart " number. How much can my guy take to "Walmart" on Friday night.

Most folks don't care about what they can't see like gross, 401k, company insurance paid etc. It's a second to can I pay my bills this month...... for he can't eat the company ins. premium and GMAC won't accept the co. 401k match.

Point? Before you take position as the high and mighty and attempt to justify back loading the driver candidate with fees consider what you're really doing. Sure SAIA might only pay $21 straight time but what is he taking home on Friday? I'd rather have $21 x 70 than $22 x 50 even if I have to work more to get it. Uncle Sam tears the hell out of overtime after 52hrs bud.

Oh yeah, only the desperate, the unemployable with long negative DAC's will sit in a classroom for 5 days for no pay..... because they have no choice.....for now.

    Good hunting !
