When I first started driving my first job right out of driving school I was put with a trainer for only 10 days. He dumped me out in Roanoak , Virginia to pick up a truck that had been abandoned. And I've been on my own ever since. But let me tell you it was a very steep learning curve. Looking back , yeah, I could have benefited from more time with a trainer.

I went out with a trainer for a whole month, and looking back, I still wasn't ready. There was much more to at least be exposed to, especially pulling flatbed. Honestly, it was another 5 or 6 months after that before it really clicked. Then there was that next level, that took about 5 or 6 years.

I believe swift trains you and then has you with a mentor for about 200 driving miles, about 4 weeks or so. I don't think they pay for schooling but they will garnish your wages for the cost over time. If you change companies you MIGHT be able to keep paying it off monthly like a loan. Im not sure about this info though, this is just from what I've been looking up

Please don’t sign a loan contract to be a slave for a company.

find a community college or Vo tech school and take the class there. Much cheaper and a much better class.
The one in my state is $1,600 and is 10 weeks.
And then you don’t owe a company $9000 for their two week “class”

I know we are not local for you, but Halvor Lines has a school in the Inver Grove Heights, MN. I think it is a 5 week program with another 5 weeks with a trainer. Not sure on all the details, but give them a call.
